Youth Pastor
Rock Harbor Covenant Church is a vibrant Covenant congregation located in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Launched in 2018 under the leadership of Kevin and Angie Diamond, Rock Harbor has already grown to an average weekly attendance of around 500 people across two Sunday services (8:30a & 10:30a). The student ministry is averaging around 25 students on Sunday nights, though has around 70 in the database. The church gathers in a beachside community marked by an influx of new residents.
Rock Harbor’s mission is to introduce people to the transformative hope of Jesus, providing an authentic community where families can thrive. The congregation is primarily composed of young to middle-aged adults, many with children and/or students. The church highly values relational ministry, creative outreach, and a commitment to biblical discipleship. Through Sunday gatherings, small groups, and missional projects, Rock Harbor strives to foster spiritual growth and meaningful connections for those in Melbourne Beach and the surrounding areas.
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Youth Pastor to oversee their student ministry. The right candidate for this role will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Ministry Leadership
- Develop and implement engaging weekly gatherings, incorporating teaching, worship, small groups, and fun activities that inspire spiritual growth. Plan and execute special events, retreats, camps, and outreach opportunities that align with Rock Harbor’s vision and culture.
Volunteer Team Management
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers who are passionate about discipling students. Provide ongoing support and clear direction so volunteers can effectively lead small groups, organize events, and invest in students’ lives.
Relational Ministry
- Build relationships with students through active presence at their events and personal follow-ups. Create an inclusive environment where students from all faith stages feel welcomed, challenged, and excited to invite friends.
Administrative and Program Oversight
- Coordinate scheduling, budgeting, and logistics for youth gatherings, camps, retreats, and mission opportunities. Maintain regular communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership using digital tools such as ChurchTeams and Microsoft Office.
Parent Engagement
- Provide resources, encouragement, and regular updates to parents, equipping them to disciple their teens at home. Offer training or workshops that strengthen family relationships and help parents navigate challenges of adolescence.
Collaboration and Church Involvement
- Attend staff and leadership meetings, contributing to church-wide vision and strategy. Occasionally support Sunday morning worship or other ministries (children’s, welcome team, tech, or preaching) as gifted and needed. Foster a healthy partnership with the Lead Pastor, marked by mutual trust, open communication, and shared commitment to Rock Harbor’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by strong character and desire to lead students to know Him.
- Passion for evangelism and discipleship, with a commitment to encouraging new believers to grow in faith (Romans 10:9).
- Affirmation of the Evangelical Covenant Church’s core beliefs and willingness to pursue ECC licensing or ordination if serving in a pastoral role.
- A willingness to serve, lead, and learn, exemplifying humility and integrity.
- Strong relational skills, demonstrating creativity, energy, and ability to connect with students from various backgrounds.
- Capable event planner, able to manage budgets, schedules, and promotion for youth gatherings.
- Excellent communication and team-building abilities for recruiting and guiding volunteers.
- Teachability and commitment to tithing and personal spiritual growth.
- Education
- No formal college degree required; a bachelor’s degree or ministry-related coursework is preferred.
- Experience
- At least three years of experience in leading a relative student ministry is ideal, though not required.
