REPORTS TO: Community Engagement Director

STATUS: Salary

HOURS: Full-time

SALARY RANGE: $58,000 – $61,000/year

LOCATION: Aurora, CO Office, about 50% in office, 30% remote, 20% various locations.

PROJECT 1.27 OVERVIEW: Since 2004, Project 1.27’s mission has been to engage, inspire, recruit and resource churches and families to serve children in our community through faith-based family preservation, kinship care, foster care and adoption. A small faith-based non-profit, Project 1.27 has staff in Denver Metro, Colorado Springs and the Western Slope, and serves a network of 15 similar organizations across the U.S.

PURPOSE: Provide Christ-centered leadership to a new program focused on connecting youth 18-24 who have aged out of foster care without stable, positive adult presence in their lives with a trained Adult Mentor. We believe this type of stable connection is vital to decreasing the likelihood of poverty and homelessness for these vulnerable youth.

SCOPE: Responsible for launching and managing a new program, screening youth 18-24, screening Adult Mentors, training Adult Mentors, matching youth with Mentors, monitoring, tracking and reporting on progress of matches and program updates to ensure program success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Youth Recruiting, Screening and Support

● Build relationships with community partner organizations and counties to identify youth who have a desire for mentoring.

● Respond to inquiries from youth.

● Interview youth and execute the paperwork and approval process for a match.

● Introduce potential mentors to youth for match approval.

● Provide assistance and support to youth as they grow in relationship with a Mentor. Mentor Screening, Training and Support

● Screen volunteer Mentors.

● Organize and facilitate training for Mentors

● Present information on potential youth matches to Mentor.

● Introduce potential mentors to youth for match approval.

● Provide assistance, support and ongoing training to mentors as they grow in relationship with a youth.

● Work with Church and Community Engagement team to facilitate mentor recruitment.

● Develop, organize and carry out family support groups, conferences, picnics and parties.

● Develop and maintain knowledge and relationships surrounding foster care and adoption to provide families with up-to-date support and resources.

● Maintain communication with assigned counties and Child Placing Agencies.

 

Organizational Management

● Data management: Utilizing Project 1.27’s database, accurately track program data and other information to provide proactive customer service, engagement and reporting.

● Ensure confidentiality and security of youth and mentor records.

● Provide accurate information for P1.27 awareness and informational resources.

● Provide winsome stories and articles for P1.27 communication channels, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of information.

● Participate in biweekly staff meetings, as well as, team meetings and all-staff days.

● Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Character:

Competency:

● Experience working closely with youth and young adults who have experienced significant trauma.

● Three or more years’ experience in social services or a related field.

● Demonstrated virtual and in-person training experience with adult learners.

● Understanding and familiarity with trauma-informed practices.

● Demonstrated people and relationship development skills.

● High-level computer skills with Google Suite applications.

● Ability to navigate remote technology including Zoom and our database.

● Ability to communicate and represent Project 1.27 in different contexts including youth programs, child welfare meetings, churches and funders.

● Diplomatic team player with the ability to anticipate needs, set and achieve goals, navigate conflicts, and facilitate resolutions.

● Reliable transportation is required.
