Worship Pastor
First Baptist Church of Medina, or First Medina, is a growing multigenerational church located 30 minutes south of Cleveland, OH. The church is led by Lead Pastor Kurt Alber, who came on staff as the lead pastor in 2021. First Medina currently offers two identical services at 9:00a and 10:30a with contemporary worship. The church is currently seeing around 450 in total Sunday morning attendance, and has seen gradual growth over the past few years.
The church is closely affiliated with Medina Christian Academy, which has grades K-6th meet on site at the church, and 7th-12th which meets in their brand new building less than a mile down the road. The church and school have a close relationship together and have multiple staff’s children who are enrolled.
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship Arts Pastor to oversee their entire worship ministry at First Medina. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with other pastors to uphold sound doctrine and guide the church toward worship that expresses the hope of Jesus.
- Establish and communicate the vision for the worship and tech teams, emphasizing our Worship Arts Values: Create Anticipation, Encourage Participation, Effective Communication, and Life Application.
- Plan, lead, and coordinate weekly worship services that authentically reflect God’s glory through music, scripture, and creative mediums, typically leading on stage 3 out of 4 weeks.
- Recruit, disciple, and equip volunteers for worship arts ministry while developing future leaders.
- Participate in the church’s teaching team, preaching several times a year, and engage in pastoral care and shepherding, especially for those active in your ministries.
- Oversee the administration of the worship ministry, including scheduling volunteers, managing the worship budget, and maintaining technical equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed follower of Jesus with character aligned to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
- A musician with strong vocal skills and experience in worship leading.
- Theologically aligned with First Medina.
- High-level aptitude in technology used in worship such as ProPresenter and Planning Center.
- Experience in recruiting, developing, and mentoring team members in a church setting.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively shepherd the worship team and congregation.
- Demonstrated experience in preaching and teaching, both in formal settings and small groups.
- Education
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though not required.
- Experience
- 3 years of full time worship leading experience previously at a church of similar size and style is ideal, though not required.
