Worship Leader (Minister of Music)
The Minister of Music Job Description:
Job Title – Minister of Music
Reports To – Pastor
Position Status – Part-time / Stipend
Purpose –The Minister of Music is responsible to the Pastor for the total music ministry of the church.
Responsibilities –
1. Direct the planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating of a comprehensive music program in preparing musicians and singers for internal and external ministry.
2. Work with the ministerial staff on special music needs in the total church program.
3. Supervise the work of the worship team.
4. Recruit and develop new worship team members.
5. Work with the Pastor in selecting music for regular and special worship services – including special projects.
6.Coordinate the music program with the organizational calendar and emphases of the church.
7. Participate in regular staff and leadership meetings.
8.Monitor the purchasing, maintenance and replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies and instruments.
9. Keep informed on music methods, materials, promotion and administration.
10. Prepare an annual music budget for approval and administer the budget.
11. Direct congregational singing at regularly scheduled worship services.
12. Cooperate with associational and state leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest.
Qualifications and Skills:
Musical Proficiency: Strong vocal abilities and the ability to play an instrument (e.g., guitar, piano).
Worship Experience: Experience leading worship services in a church setting.
Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage rehearsals and services.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with the worship team, pastor, and congregation.
Spiritual Maturity: A strong Christian faith and a desire to lead others in worship. A strong commitment to their personal faith and walk with Christ. A 24/7 commitment to be above reproach as a public ministry leader.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with sound, lighting, and multimedia equipment.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with a team of musicians and volunteers
