Qualifications:

1. Spiritual:
   • A committed Christian with an exemplary life and sense of calling to worship ministry.
   • A sound understanding of the Bible and application of it in corporate worship services and in all areas of life.
   • A maturity to work submissively both with your Staff Supervisor and ultimately the Senior Pastor
   • A relational ability to work well with musicians, technical crews, artists, youth musicians, and other ministry leaders in a healthy and flexible manner.
   • A heart for and ability to identify, empower and train musicians to grow in both the art and heart of serving as Worship Team members.
   • A heart for worship that desires to lead a congregation in praise and worship.
2. Professional:
   • Familiarity with a wide range of musical styles and genres. These include contemporary songs, traditional hymns and the worship of various ethnicities living in our diverse city. Since New Life is a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church, we strive to offer a diversity of worship expressions that helps the greatest number of people worship God in the deepest possible way.
   • Musical aptitude to play and lead congregational singing on one or more instruments.
   • Ability to recruit, train and oversee volunteer musicians.
   • Ability to lead and/or oversee bands and vocal ensembles.
   • A proficiency in using Planning Center and Multi-tracks Systems, or willingness to be trained.
   • Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not necessary, as our city has a high percentage of people who are Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the Worship Ministries of New Life
2. Plan/Lead Worship – Responsible to see that all of New Life’s weekly worship services are planned and led either personally or utilizing gifted laypeople within the church. Work in conjunction with Senior Pastor/Staff in the planning of services. Run Thursday night worship team rehearsals and prepare lead sheets, song arrangements, etc.
3. Special Services – Utilize worship ministry volunteers in the planning/leading of such special services on Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Morning of Praise, etc. Also, work in conjunction with the Ethnic Ministries to plan and lead periodic special multi-ethnic services and events.
4. Recruit, Organize, Develop and Shepherd Worship Teams – Organize volunteer worship bands and singers for Sunday services. Schedule worship teams throughout the year. Mentor worship team volunteers and offer training to help team members improve their skills. Provide spiritual shepherding of worship team members and offer periodic social events and team-building opportunities to grow the cohesion of the teams.
5. Multi-Ethnic and Multi-Generational – New Life is an intentionally multi-ethnic and multi-generational church. Thus, it is a high priority to see that people of diverse ethnicities and ages are recruited, trained and empowered to serve in our Worship Ministries. We also desire to express our worship of God in a diversity of musical styles/backgrounds as well. It is vital to seek input from our various ethnicities concerning worship songs/expressions that will be most meaningful to them in their particular ethnic background.
6. Staff Supervisor & Tech Coordinator – Meet at least monthly your Staff Supervisor and Worship Tech Coordinator for planning purposes.
7. Worship/Tech Ministry Budget – Work in conjunction with Staff Supervisor and Worship Tech Coordinator in setting annual budget.
8. Relationship to New Life Staff — When possible, attend Wednesday morning All-Staff and Preaching Team meetings. Also, when possible, please plan to join us for periodic All-Staff Events throughout the year.

III. Terms

1. Hours: 15 Hours/Week on Average
2. Pay: $25/hour — $19,500 per year
3. Accountability: Submissive directly to your Staff Supervisor and ultimately to the Senior Pastor
