As WorldVenture approaches the baton pass of our retiring Vice President of Global Initiatives, we are seeking God for the next leader who will lead our Global Initiatives teams to engage the world for gospel impact. As we adapt to the needs and opportunities of our days, it is essential for WorldVenture to adeptly and wisely implement non-traditional and traditional tactics in our disciple-making approaches. We believe that God has prepared such a leader for WorldVenture for such a time as this.

 

The Vice President of Global Initiatives stewards the vital leadership role of serving on the senior leadership team of WorldVenture and serving in the leadership of the personnel and cross-cultural ministries of WorldVenture. The role requires godly, collaborative leadership committed to faithful and fruitful wholistic approaches with urban least-reached peoples and communities.

Job Description

 

Position Summary:

The position of Vice President of Global Initiatives (VPGI) is responsible for God-focused leadership of WorldVenture’s Global Initiatives and serving as a member of the Global Operations Team. The VPGI is responsible for the aligned implementation of WorldVenture’s non-traditional and traditional strategies for disciple-making among urban least reached peoples and communities in fulfilling the mission of WorldVenture and ensuring organizational cohesion with the President’s Office, Operations, and Partner Ministries.

Position Responsibilities:

Success Outcomes:

· The VPGI will be successful when Global initiatives’ global, regional, and local tactical plans are implemented, gospel impact is evidenced in urban least reached peoples and communities, and GI proactively and appropriately entrusts local ministries to local partners and shifts GI efforts to new urban least reached peoples and communities.

· The VPGI will be successful when GI proactively and consistently empowers local teams to thrive in Focused Endeavors and appropriately prepare for and navigate through White Water for larger teams to thrive in Focused Scalability.

Essential Functions:

· Lead the Global Initiatives Team in articulating and setting the Global Initiatives’ global, regional, and local tactical plans, typically on a rolling three-year cycle, to ensure the accomplishment of WorldVenture’s mission and vision for disciple-making to urban least reached peoples and communities and report on the strategic outcomes established by the Global Operations Team and Board of Directors.

· Ensure the operational readiness of WorldVenture through spiritual and organizational leadership of staff achieving the missionary ministries vital to WorldVenture’s corporate purposes and objectives.

· Champion the personnel development, strategy refinements, and Global Initiatives’ infrastructure that cultivates and supports healthy, long-term ministry effectiveness of WorldVenture personnel.

· Ensure the stewardship stories of WorldVenture through leading the Global Initiatives Team in establishing, reporting, and refining Global Initiatives metrics.

Personal Qualifications:

· The VPGI is missiologically astute with strong practical knowledge of mission approaches for spiritual discernment and who empowers colleagues with perspective and tools to implement culturally appropriate mission approaches.

· The VPGI must demonstrate the abilities and practical knowledge necessary for leading diverse teams in non-traditional and traditional approaches for the achievement of WorldVenture’s mission and vision.

· The VPGI grasps the global strategies of WorldVenture while also able to explore the details of ministry implementation with the leaders and personnel of Global Initiatives and partners.

· The VPGI is passionate about people development knowing that God uses people in the events of life to communicate and accomplish his redemptive purposes.

· The VPGI listens well, comprehends the organizational, team, and personnel needs and challenges while also communicates truth with love and compassion. This skill flows from a high value and personal practice for teamwork and collaboration for healthy interpersonal relationships.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Has a working knowledge of integrating Global Initiatives strategies for a large nonprofit, demonstrating an understanding of the needs and interests of Global Workers, partnering churches and other mission partners and WorldVenture’s giving-partners to fulfill the mission and vision of WorldVenture

· Leader with a good track record for organizational solutions to opportunities and challenges

· Self-driven and motivated by goals and can work independently to achieve and set priorities

· Collaborates effectively with peers to achieve desired outcomes

· Demonstrates experience in planning, leading, and managing operational teams and organizational initiatives

· Highly trustworthy and can maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality with sensitive information

· Has experience and credibility when presenting materials to internal and external audiences and can listen to and understand the needs and interests of individual constituencies in order to develop relationships between them and WorldVenture

· Able and willing to travel and work flexible hours as necessary

Education or Formal Training:

· Minimum of a graduate degree in Missions and at least seven years of effective cross cultural field ministry
