OVERVIEW: The Upper School Principal provides vision and leadership to ACA’s Upper School (6th-12th grade) program. He/she ensures the development of quality classical Christian curricula, the equipping of high-caliber teachers trained in classical pedagogy, and the formation of students who embrace the mission and vision of ACA in their actions by embodying the school’s ideal graduate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academic Strategy
● Establish Upper School goals in collaboration with the Executive Director and execute a plan for implementation.
● Oversee recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of Upper School staff.
● Manage teacher development, including participation in teacher evaluation processes and classroom visits; Execute plan for teacher evaluation, improvement, recognition, and assignments; guide teachers in setting educational, professional and personal goals.
● Facilitate academic teacher in-service training in partnership with the Grammar School Principal.
● Supervise the Registrar, College/Career Counselor and Athletic Coordinator.
● Oversee Upper School curriculum decisions, updates, and implementation.
● Oversee development of Upper School class schedules to deliver a robust classical curriculum.
● Oversee standardized testing process in collaboration with Registrar.
● Plan the K-12 event academic calendar in partnership with the Grammar School Principal.
● Collaborate with the Admissions & Enrollment Manager regarding admissions processes; make final acceptance determination regarding Upper School student applicants.
● Maintain pulse of staff morale; foster positive, biblical relationships among staff; Communicate regularly with academic staff to build team mentality and shared vision.
● Serve on accreditation team as ACA pursues accreditation with the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS)
● Collaborate with other CCE schools and the ACCS; stay up-to-date with current political and educational issues affecting classical Christian education.

Administration and Communication
● Spearhead regular school communication to parents; convey classical Christian vision to parents.
● Support the biblical role of parents in the education of their children.
● Respond promptly (ideally within 24 hours) to parent emails and calls; proactively work to address parents concerns.
● Serve as a spokesperson for classical Christian education and the ACA mission at ACA events, to donors, etc.; Represent the school at relevant parent, church or community groups.
● Work with the Executive Director to ensure Upper School needs are met while staying within budget.
● Supervise teacher communication to Upper School parents.
● Communicate any concerns regarding children to their parents; Facilitate prompt communication of all disciplinary actions to parents.

Student Culture and Performance
● Support a wholesome, Christ-centric Upper School culture that fosters the academic, moral and spiritual development of students.
● Monitor student academic progress.
● Establish and maintain an atmosphere of order and cheerful discipleship.
● Ensure that students and parents understand disciplinary actions and the reason it was administered.
● Update discipline policy as warranted/needed.
● Establish relationships with each student, knowing them by name.

BENEFITS
● $85,000-$100,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications
● PTO: four full days per year (in addition to days the school is closed)
