Description:

The Upper Elementary Coordinator is responsible for equipping fourth and fifth-grade children to grow spiritually and experience the love of Christ. This role involves coordinating administrative and logistical support for the Upper Elementary ministry, participating in the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers, and ensuring that kids and their families are well-served.

⏤ Responsibilities

Team Support and Development

  • Support Team Members Before, During, and After Weekend Services
    • Answer parent and volunteer questions, serving as a resource for all inquiries.
    • Assist in training leaders to facilitate highly relational and transformational groups.
    • Lead in rooms as necessary to ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Logistics Coordination

  • Set-up and Tear-down of Upper Elementary Spaces
    • Ensure rooms are set up to provide a welcoming and enriching environment for kids and volunteers.
    • Prepare resources in advance for all elements of the Upper Elementary services.
    • Maintain neat, orderly, and safe rooms, and ensure ‘Go Bags’ are available in each room.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruiting and Leading Volunteer Teams
    • Build and support a culture defined by love and unity.
    • Develop a strategic plan, in collaboration with the Assistant Kidspoint Director, to identify and recruit volunteers.
    • Recruit, train, lead, and direct volunteers for maximum impact.
    • Regularly cast vision by sharing stories and celebrating wins.
    • Provide coaching and feedback for continuous improvement.
    • Partner with the Assistant Kidspoint Director to plan and deliver high-caliber trainings.
    • Train volunteers in safety policies and ensure adherence to these policies in the ministry.

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate Relationship with Kids and Families
    • Connect relationally with kids and families during drop-off and pick-up times.
    • Take time to thoroughly understand each kid’s needs.
    • Build relationships with kids during weekend services.
    • Pray for the kids and families you serve.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete all Administrative Responsibilities
    • Maintain all administrative documentation, including attendance and follow-up reports.
    • Complete screening, processing, and paperwork for volunteers.
    • Ensure CCB (Church Community Builder) system is organized, accurate, and up-to-date.
    • Uphold the highest standards for all safety and security teams.
    • Assist in curriculum preparation and development.

Communication Management

  • Ensure Timely and Thorough Responses to Communication Requests
    • Manage email, voicemail, and communication requests in a timely, thorough manner.
    • Maintain confidentiality and build trust through professional and sensitive communication.
    • Respond to all communications with professionalism, sensitivity, and a service-orientation mindset.

Spiritual, Personal, and Professional Development

  • Pursue ongoing growth in spiritual, personal, and professional areas.
    • Exhibit a strong commitment to Christ through personal devotion and spiritual practices.
    • Commit to continuous learning and improvement within the field.
    • Apply feedback, training, and development received from the direct supervisor.
    • Regularly attend department and all-staff meetings.
    • Engage in mentoring relationships, both as a mentor and mentee, to support spiritual, personal and professional development.

⏤ Requirements

Educational Background and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a college program related to education, child development, or a similar field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a church, educational, or recreational setting is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely preparation and execution of activities.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and engaging environment for children and volunteers.
  • Basic understanding of child development principles and practices.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in using basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
  • Experience with church management software, such as Planning Center Online, is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues related to classroom or presentation equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving for extended periods during events and activities.
  • Dexterity to handle materials and supplies for various setup and tear-down tasks.
