The Position:

As a Teacher/Mentor Practitioner, you will do more than just teach. You will help change the trajectory of students’ lives. In this meaningful role, you will build strong relationships with youth, mentor them consistently, and support their personal growth. After a six-month training period, you will lead engaging classroom lessons that focus on character, leadership, and life skills. You will also participate in after-school activities, team meetings, and bonding events. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making an impact, thrives in a team environment, and is ready to invest deeply in the lives of students.

Responsibilities:

Teaching & Mentoring: Mentor a consistent group of students, building trusted, long-term relationships while teaching UpLift’s curriculum in the classroom after completing a training period. Maintain a professional and supportive classroom environment that encourages student growth and engagement.

Student Engagement & Team Collaboration: Participate regularly in bonding and community-building activities with students, show up fully prepared and engaged for meetings, events, and classes, and collaborate closely with team members to carry out UpLift’s mission.

Administration & Communication: Prepare thoughtfully for lessons, respond to communications in a timely manner, and keep accurate records of classroom and mentoring activities. Log student interactions consistently in Salesforce to support data-driven insights and student success.

Professionalism & Development: Represent UpLift’s mission and values with professionalism at schools, community events, and organizational functions. Commit to ongoing personal and professional growth, and build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and external partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2+ years experience mentoring or coaching youth

• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and clean background check

• CPR certification (within 6 months of hire)

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (especially in education or related field) *Preferred

• Bilingual in Spanish and English *Preferred

Additional Skills

• Passion for working with youth and advancing UpLift’s mission

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills

• Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Salesforce, and platforms like Zoom or Teams

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
