Substance Use Disorder Counselor
***The position is in a remote portion of the central Idaho wilderness with access to many recreational activities. Current position is being recruited by Denver Seminary alumnus (Counseling-2013). The alumnus has been working for the facility since 2016. Licensure is not required, but can be obtained quickly (within 6-12 months) given parameters of Idaho State requirements for LPC’s.***
##Position is an hourly, guaranteed rate. Weekly schedule is 4- 10 hour days.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, social work, or health and human services.
- Knowledge and competence in alcohol and substance use disorders treatment including client evaluation, counseling techniques, group techniques, relapse prevention, case management, and family therapy.
JOB SUMMARY
The counselor will work with the clinical staff in a dual diagnosis residential facility that uses an eclectic, holistic approach to recovery from SUDs. This position, in addition to the clinical staff, works with medical and administrative staff to ensure quality of care for all clients. This position has experience and success with SUD’s treatment via group, individual, and family therapy.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts group therapy and/or education sessions.
Provides individual counseling to evaluate client’s progress in treatment.
Completes assessments, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, staffing notes, and discharge plans.
Creates master problem list and treatment plans using ASAM criteria.
Prepares utilization reviews for continuing insurance authorizations.
Demonstrates crisis management skills as needed.
Always demonstrates trauma informed care with clients.
Works with case manager to set up aftercare plans and provides referrals as necessary for discharging clients.
