Student/Family Ministry Intern
Pastoral Intern – Student & Family Ministry
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Status: Part-Time Internship (with potential for future ministry opportunities)
Duration: 9–12 months (with flexibility)
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate, teachable, and ministry-minded individual to serve as our Pastoral Intern for Student & Family Ministry. This intern will play a key role in the ground-floor revitalization of our student ministry and support the broader family ministry of the church. Working alongside church leadership, the intern will help cast vision, build relationships with students and families, and develop sustainable rhythms of discipleship, teaching, and outreach.
This position offers hands-on ministry experience, pastoral mentoring, and a chance to shape the next generation in a gospel-centered church.
Key Responsibilities
Student Ministry Revitalization (Middle & High School)
- Help assess the current state of the student ministry and work with leadership to cast vision for revitalization.
- Build relationships with students and families, both inside and outside the church.
- Assist in planning and leading weekly student gatherings (teaching, small groups, worship, and activities).
- Create engaging and biblical content that connects with students and supports discipleship.
- Develop leadership opportunities for students (serving, outreach, peer mentoring).
- Partner with parents to equip them as the primary disciplers of their children.
Family Ministry Support
- Assist in occasional children’s ministry, family events, and intergenerational activities.
- Provide administrative and planning support for family-focused outreach and discipleship events.
Pastoral Formation
- Attend staff meetings, leadership training, and receive one-on-one pastoral mentoring.
- Be given opportunities to teach, preach, or lead devotionals as gifts and calling allow.
- Participate in congregational life and model Christian maturity in character and conduct.
Qualifications
- A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to ministry.
- Commitment to the authority of Scripture and alignment with the church’s doctrinal statement.
- Experience in student or family ministry is preferred but not required.
- Teachable spirit, strong relational skills, and a servant-hearted attitude.
- Enrolled in or recently completed theological or ministry training (college/seminary is a plus).
- Willingness to be flexible, creative, and dependable in a revitalizing context.
Hours & Compensation
- 10-20 hours per week (flexible depending on availability and season)
- Modest stipend available (commensurate with experience and hours)
