POSITION OVERVIEW

Ken Caryl Church is seeking a passionate and committed Student and Worship Minister to serve in a dual role focused on discipling students (grades 6–12) and leading the church in engaging, Christ-centered worship. 

The ideal candidate is a strong team player with a clear calling to local church ministry, a heart for students and families, and the ability to lead worship vocally while playing either acoustic guitar or piano.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Student Ministry (Grades 6-12) 

– Sunday Mornings 

  • Develop and implement a Christ-centered teaching plan and curriculum. 
  • Teach Biblically-based lessons. 
  • Create a welcoming, fun, and engaging environment for students. 
  • Recruit and equip volunteers, including parents, to serve in student ministry. 

– Wednesday Nights

  • Plan interactive and relational midweek gatherings. 
  • Teach Biblically-based lessons relevant to students’ lives. 
  • Invite and integrate volunteers into regular programming. 

– Ongoing Student Ministry Duties 

  • Plan and lead other events: camps, retreats, mission trips, fun outings, etc. 
  • Foster meaningful relationships with students and their families. 
  • Consistently follow up and connect with new and existing students. 
  • Create a clear path for spiritual growth that supports the church’s mission. 
  • Collaborate closely with staff and volunteers. 
  • Attend weekly staff meetings. 
  • Lead budgeting and planning for Student Ministry.

2. Worship Ministry 

  • Coordinate weekly order of worship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor. 
  • Lead worship for Sunday services and special events. 
  • Prepare and distribute music materials (charts, transitions, etc.). 
  • Rehearse and lead the worship team effectively. 
  • Schedule and communicate with volunteers through Planning Center.
  • Recruit and develop musicians and vocalists. 
  • Ensure sound, media, and livestream needs are met and functioning properly. 
  • Oversee Worship Ministry budget planning.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A strong, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ (required) 
  • Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (required) 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • A heart for shepherding students and leading congregational worship 
  • Bachelor’s degree (required) 
  • Seminary training and/or relevant ministry experience (preferred) 
  • Ability to lead vocally while playing acoustic guitar or piano 
  • Proven experience working with students in grades 6–12 (preferred) 
  • Team-oriented with strong collaboration and leadership skills

ABOUT KEN CARYL CHURCH

Ken Caryl Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation located in the beautiful Littleton area of the Denver metro. The church offers a contemporary worship experience with occasional traditional hymns. The Student Ministry is well-established and integral to the life of the church. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to live on mission, build healthy community, and reach others with the gospel.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience 
  • Hours: ~40 per week (30 for Student Ministry, 10 for Worship)
