Mountain Heights Church: voluntarily affiliates with the Colorado Baptist Convention.  We affirm the 1925 version of the Baptist Faith and Message.  Our mission is to love God, love others, and serve the world.  Our church is a place where no perfect people are allowed.  We currently have two main missions.  Our wood ministry provides wood for those in need during the winter months.  Our rafting ministry provides a warm meal and showers Monday nights during the summer to the area raft guides.  We are blessed with a building that reaches out to the community and provides a place for concerts, meals, school groups, and meetings.  Our current church body is predominantly retired (majority aged sixty and older) with roughly thirty-five in attendance each Sunday, which can fluctuate in the summertime.

Senior Pastor: We are looking for a pastor who has attended seminary, has at least five years prior experience as a pastor, who places emphasis on sermon preparation and prayer, and who understands the value of building relationships.  Training in counseling is a plus.  The senior pastor serves as President of the corporation and chair of the Leadership Council, where both men and women serve.  The pastor can expect trust from the church in him as a person of integrity, support for him as a leader, consultation concerning church affairs, and concern for him and his family.  At the same time the church expects competency in ministry, leadership in worship services, and a willingness to develop strategies for the entire church body to reach out to visitors and the community and help those currently attending to continue to grow and serve in various ways.

Salary/Housing: The current pastor salary is $79,310.  We understand housing in our county can be costly and are prepared to get creative with ways to help our next pastor with housing.

Buena Vista, CO: is a small town of approximately 3,500 people, nestled in the middle of the Upper Arkansas River Valley, at an 8,000 foot elevation.  West of Buena Vista is a range of fourteeners.  Twenty-five miles to the south lies Salida (along with the closest super center).  Thirty-five miles to the north lies Leadville at 10,400 feet.  Buena Vista has evolved from a mining town to a tourist destination.  In the summer people, and with them traffic, flock to the area to enjoy the many outdoor activities from fishing and camping to rafting and rock climbing.  In the winter, the three ski areas within an hour’s drive, bring in weekender skiers and snowboarders.
