Senior/Lead Pastors
Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville Texas, seeks to call a lead pastor to join us as a witness for Christ in this rapidly growing community.
The Community
In 1844 Castroville was established by Alsatian and German settlers on the banks of the Medina river just west of San Antonio. It is located less than a half hour from downtown San Antonio. Medina Valley ISD is one of the most highly rated and fastest growing school districts in Texas. Community events include Fiorella Friday, Old Fashion Christmas, the 4th of July Parade, the Tour de Castroville and the Poppy Festival. Popular activities in Castroville include hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, shopping, golfing, and sight-seeing. Attractions such as the Alamo, the River Walk, and Sea World are close at hand.
The Church
Zion Lutheran Church, established in 1852, is deeply rooted in our town’s history. We envision being a witness for Christ in this fast growing community. Our ministries include a Christian library, visitation, vacation Bible school, adult and children’s Sunday school, choir and hand bell players, a prayer chain, food pantry, and outreach at our monthly city street festival.The church has a mix of families that have been at Zion for generations, along with many families that are new to the area.
The Call
As a church we are looking for a lead pastor who can abide by the LCMC statement of faith and is committed to preaching the Word in an engaging manner. The ideal candidate will be an ambitious leader who has a vision for how we can maintain our commitment to this historic community while making disciples of Christ among the growing population in the community.
