OVBC was founded in 1972, starting as a bible study group that was praying about the possibility of beginning a church in the University Place area west of Tacoma. The group began to grow and eventually would call our first pastor, Leroy Schauer, who served for ten years. Don Decker was called as the second pastor, and he, too, served for nearly ten years. Ronn Read was called in 1994 and served until 2002. Larry Neufeld was called in 2003 and retired in 2011. John Stolz was called in 2012 and served as our senior pastor until 2024 when he transitioned into interim pastor.

The current staff consists of John Stolz, Interim Pastor; Pastor of Worship Ministry (vacant); Nicole Doak, Pastor of Children and Tweens; William Stark, Pastor of Youth and Young Adults; Chuck Bahr, Administration; and Jill Stoner, Custodian.
