Senior/Lead Pastors
Senior Pastor
Fellowship of Bible Church of Colorado Springs
PO Box 49546
Colorado Springs, CO 80949
Fellowship Bible Church of Colorado Springs (FBC) is seeking the man who is being called by the Lord to become our next senior pastor, and who will lead FBC on mission to Colorado Springs and the world.
Mission Statement
“We are a community of the Spirit on God’s mission to be the grace-empowered, grace-bearing ‘hands and feet’ of Jesus to each other and to our world.”
Basic Values
We believe that this man will wholeheartedly agree with and champion the values and mission statement of FBC. We hold to three primary values: (1) Scripture is the only absolute source of truth and, flowing from that, (2) salvation is by grace alone through faith alone and no act of obedience preceding or following faith in Jesus may be added to or be considered part of faith as a condition for receiving eternal life (“free grace”), and (3) we as believers and as a church do not exist for our own benefit but instead to join together on God’s mission of redemption to the world that He loves (e.g., 2 Tim. 3:16; Eph. 2:8–10).
Mission
Flowing from these values, FBC’s mission is to be “a community of the Spirit on God’s mission to be the grace-bearing, grace-empowered hands and feet of Jesus to one another and the world.” As catalysts for this mission, we have identified: “gracing” (being the hands and feet of Christ – incarnating Christ to one other and our world), praying (staying connected with Christ for who we are and what we do), belonging (authentic koinonia community around Christ on mission), and equipping (awakening, training, and sustaining for Christ’s mission). As a result, we desire to be a church that (individually and collectively) humbly and sacrificially lives out the Lord’s values on mission daily.
Overview
We are a mature church, both in terms of the testimony of lives lived by walking closely with the Lord and also the calendar age of congregants. Many of our members are either in full-time ministry occupations or are retired from full-time missions. A recent survey records an average age of 52. We are praying for “workers for the harvest” to join with us to reach out to the fields that Jesus tells us are “white unto the harvest.” If the Lord is calling you to be our next pastor, that includes you. But we also pray that it includes young adults in their 20s to 40s who have the energy and humility to join with the wisdom and experience of our mature members to be on mission together.
We have been blessed for many years with excellent exegetical teaching and deep Scriptural insights from our present pastor, Raleigh Gresham. We desire that our next pastor also teach the word of God systematically and in detail. Ideally, we envision that the next pastor would start as a mentee of Pastor Gresham and move into the senior-pastor role over the course of 1–2 years.
Our hope is that FBC will grow as a “center for koinonia” in Colorado Springs. Because of this, the elders decided in 2019 to sell our previous building, which did not match very well the requirements of such a center. We are presently meeting in a building owned by another church in Colorado Springs but this is not our long-term plan. Our funding situation is very healthy, but we have not yet purchased a building because we are waiting on the Lord for a vision with specific details regarding what a center for koinonia might entail and what requirements that might impose on a building that would be home for such a center. Our hope is that our next pastor will help us to understand the Lord’s vision and to clarify its details.
We believe that challenges and opportunities of this position will be exciting and motivating for the man God is calling to the position. Would you pray and ask the Lord if that might be you? If you are interested or have questions, please reach out to elders@fbccs.org.
