serve in a Christian ministry? Cadence International is an evangelical mission organization
dedicated to reaching military communities with the good news of Jesus Christ. We are looking
for a Payroll Specialist who is detail oriented and has a heart to support our missionaries, staff,
and donors with a high level of competency and care.

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Purpose:
The HR Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing payroll administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Preparation and processing of the organization’s payroll, including payroll-related
    actions and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental tax and legal filing requirements and other
    reporting regulations.
  • Register Cadence for portal access, new accounts and account maintenance, and
    authorize TPA for SUTA and SITW.
  • Responsible for providing financial reporting as it relates to payroll and 403b benefits
    including audit requirements.
  • Provide monthly reporting for Intacct (finance software) import for Payroll and related
    month-end transfers.

Support Calculations:

  • Collect and review data for salary/housing allowance, rates, housing allowance, etc.
    annually.
  • Create annual housing allowance survey, collect data, and review prior to submitting to
    Board for approval.
  • Submit one-time housing allowance requests to the Board as requested
    throughout the year.

Benefit Related Administration:

  • Administer and maintain required benefits and insurance for:
  • 403b retirement plan.
  • Assist with annual 403b audits.
  • Schedule 403b committee meetings, assist with creating agenda and take
    minutes.
  • Workers’ compensation audits.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly, quarterly, or annual premium statements of all
    policies.

Other:

  • Point of contact for payroll and 403b benefits.
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and
    questions.
  • Assist or prepare correspondence, such as:
  • Employment verification letters.
  • Employment verification to obtain visas, etc.
  • File annual EEO-1 and VETS reporting.
  • Manage and track mileage for company owned vehicles.
  • Attend Chapel weekly and other meetings as required.
  • Assist with various special projects.
  • Make photocopies, fax documents, and perform other clerical functions.
  • Back-up other HR staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Requires prior knowledge of principles and practices of human resources; particularly in
    payroll and benefits.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient in computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and Internet)
    and must be willing to learn new applications.
  • High level of administrative skills; including data entry, strong attention to detail and
    paperwork.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Born again, mature Christian with an affinity for the mission and work of Cadence
    International.
  • Heart for reaching military and the world reflected through personal serving of others
    and sharing of resources.
  • Preferred experience with HRIS, and religious non-profit organization.
  • Four years’ experience in payroll and/or benefits, or a similar combination of education
    and experience is preferred, but not required.
