Who We Are:

First Baptist Church Marshall, MO is a Southern Baptist church located in Marshall, MO (1 hour from Kansas City and 1 hour from Columbia, MO off I-70). FBCM was established in 1864 and has a rich heritage of gospel ministry. Marshall, MO is a town of roughly 13,500 and features Missouri Valley College. We are currently averaging 205 in Sunday morning worship and have a blended style of worship. We believe strongly in the authority of God’s Word and seek to honor Christ in all that we do.

 

About the Role:

This is a pastoral role, and we desire someone who is a pastor first, and a musician second. The Pastor of Worship and Administration, in partnership with the Lead Pastor, will give the primary leadership for leading the congregation to corporately glorify God. The Worship Pastor will oversee and coordinate all details that a service encompasses including musical, technical, and volunteer aspects. He will oversee song selection, media preparation/presentation, sound and lighting, and instrumentalists/vocalists. This role will also include an administrative component. Specifically, aiding the lead pastor in the overseeing of administrative tasks of the church including systems like Planning Center, social media, and our church website.

 

Job Duties Include:

 

Worship:

Leading worship for all FBCM worship services including Sunday morning, Wednesday night, and special services (Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Funerals as needed/requested).
Leading all worship team and choir rehearsals whenever they are needed/occur.
Recruiting, auditioning, training, and scheduling all worship ministry, choir, and tech team volunteers.
Creating, printing, and distributing weekly orders of service.
Uploading (to Planning Center), printing and distributing all sheet music to worship ministry volunteers who need it for rehearsals and worship services.
Setting up all needed graphics and lyrics in church presentation software for all worship.
Stage setup for all services and rehearsals including microphones, stands, instruments, configuration, and batteries.
Overseeing, procuring, servicing, and troubleshooting all musical equipment and AVL systems throughout the church building (sometimes in collaboration with the finance committee and Lead Pastor).
Coordinating along with Lead Pastor & Trustees the upgrading and redesigning of AVL systems and worship spaces throughout the building as needed (when finances allow).
Overseeing the AVL ministry and all its technologies which include front of house sound, front of house lyrics/graphics, lights, live stream sound, live stream graphics, and live stream cameras.
Overseeing worship ministry budget line items and reconciling all worship ministry purchases monthly.
Coordinating and leading biannual children’s choir presentations during the Easter and Christmas season.
Coordinating and leading biannual cantatas/special services at Christmas and Easter time.
Coordinating worship ministry social events 2-3 times per year usually at least in the summer and at Christmastime.
Finding substitutes for worship ministry volunteers or worship pastor when out of town / unavailable.
Making all the necessary preparations for substitute worship leader when worship pastor out of town / unavailable.

 

Admin/Misc.

·      Assisting Lead Pastor with pastoral care (member calls, care, visits, etc.).

·      Assist Lead Pastor in development of church calendar.

·      Liaison to Sunday school and life group leaders, providing curriculum, training, and other needed resources.

·      Assist Lead Pastor with marketing strategy of the church & communications.

·      Partnering with Lead Pastor regarding church growth and outreach strategies.

·      Assistance with premarital counseling, weddings, funerals, and teaching as needed.

·      Tracking attendance and other vital ministry data as we pursue our measurable goals.

·      When needed, provide spiritual counsel to members that includes issues related to church discipline and conflict resolution.

·      Oversee the maintaining of church management software, social media, and church website components along with Ministry Assistant.

·      A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing, personal relationship with Him.

·      Committed to moral purity and a healthy relationship with his wife and family.

·      Meets the qualifications for Pastor/Elder/Overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4) and possesses a shepherd’s heart.

·      A pastor first, then a musician.

·      Is someone who cares deeply about the spiritual formation of the congregation and volunteers in the music/AVL ministry.

·      Relational skills and a joy for leading others in worship by worshiping.

·      Interest and ability to lead various styles of music including hymnody and theologically rich modern music.

·      Competence in choral, vocal, and instrumental direction.

·      Competence in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.

·      Competence in utilization of technology in worship: sound, lighting, computers, ProPresenter, and live streaming platforms.

·      A self-starter, with a strong work ethic.

·      A team player with a positive attitude that reflects the joy of the Lord.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·      Experience or ability with worship and service programs (Planning Center, ProPresenter, etc.).

·      Able to read music and teach others.

·      Able to lead worship from a “leadable” instrument (Piano, guitar, etc.).

·      Experience or ability to lead a choir.

·      Experience or ability to lead an integrated worship team including praise band, choir, praise team singers, instrumentalist, and AVL technicians.

 

Education & Experience:

·      Appropriate music and ministry training.

·      A clear testimony of theological understanding and conviction (Theological training is a bonus).

·      Bachelor’s Degree (master’s degree is a bonus)

·      5 plus years of ministry experience preferred.
