Pastor of Discipleship

POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastor of Discipleship, along with the Senior Pastor, oversees the discipleship ministries of Meadowbrook Church. Our definition of discipleship, as defined by Dallas Willard, is being with Jesus in order to learn from Jesus so that we can live like Jesus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Neighborhood Communities (Small Groups)
- Equip and encourage Neighborhood Community (NC) leaders to effectively lead and shepherd their group(s).
- Develop and implement a strategic NC plan to launch new NCs in different neighborhoods throughout the community.
- Recruit and develop leaders to lead new NCs.
- Oversee and work with the content team that develops material to support NC leaders in their group discussions based on Sunday morning sermons.
- Help facilitate outreach and service opportunities for NCs.
Discipleship Classes
- Schedule, coordinate, plan, and teach discipleship classes based on MBC’s Discipleship Pathway.
- Recruit and develop teachers to help teach discipleship classes.
Adult Ministries
- Ensure the vision of Meadowbrook Church is implemented and fulfilled in Men’s, Women’s, and Young Adult ministries.
- Equip and encourage the leaders of the adult ministries to teach and disciple the members of their ministries through classes and groups.
- Support ministry leaders in the planning and execution of ministry events.
Prayer and Care Ministries
- Oversee and encourage the Prayer and Care Teams.
- Help connect people who have the heart for prayer to engage in the Prayer ministry at MBC.
- Recruit and schedule Prayer Team members to be available for prayer after Sunday services.
- Equip Care ministry leaders to engage in the care opportunities within the congregation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide leadership oversight to the Children’s and Youth Ministry Directors.
- Have an upfront presence on Sunday mornings when the Senior Pastor asks.
- Preach when asked by the Senior Pastor.
- Collaborate and help execute churchwide ministry events.
- Manage all budgets related to the discipleship ministries of MBC.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- This position requires a strong spiritual background.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theological or Ministerial Studies is required, Master’s degree is preferred.
- Significant leadership experience, including staff, in a local church is required.

- Ability to receive direction from supervising pastor.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION:
Full-time position
40 hours per week
Sunday/weekend availability
Expected to work church holidays
Regular weekly office hours
Salary: Dependent on skill, experience, and qualifications
