PURPOSE
To help Monument Bible Church fulfill its disciple-making mission by providing additional pastoral oversight, instruction, and leadership in several key areas of ministry.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFCATIONS
- Exhibit the character qualities of an elder (1 Timothy 3:2-7 & Titus 1:6-9)
- Confirmation of a call to vocational-pastoral ministry
- A maturing follower of Jesus
- Biblical & Theological Training (Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred)
- Experience in pastoral ministry of a local church
- A clear and winsome communicator
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to effectively disciple others and provide biblical counseling
- Gifted in administration, preaching, recruiting & building teams
- Comfortable with producing graphics and videos (shooting and presenting content) are a plus, but not required
EXPECTATIONS
- Affirm the doctrine and mission of Monument Bible Church
- Demonstrate an encouraging, positive attitude
- Possess a pastoral heart and strong relational skills
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Resolve conflict biblically to promote reconciliation
- Attend elder & deacon meetings, as requested
- Pray regularly for and with the Monument family
- Be accountable to Lead Pastor and Elders
- Work 40+ hours a week and maintain regular office hours as established with lead pastor
RESPONSBILITIES
1) Connection/Assimilation
- Oversee identifying and assimilating new attendees to the life of the church
- Oversee our quarterly “Starting Point” gathering to connect with new attenders
- Lead volunteers to foster a culture of connection and care (i.e. Greeting Team and Connection Café Team)
- Lead and participate in our bi-annual Membership Morning.
2) Adult Christian Education
- Lead in the planning of adult bible classes, equipping classes, small groups, bible studies, conferences and other special growth events for the ministry year
- Recruit, train, and lead prospective teachers & small group leaders
- Be the pastoral staff contact for our college and career ministry team.
3) Preaching, Teaching, & Worship
- Preach 6-8 sermons a year for Sunday morning worship services in accordance with the preaching calendar
- Participate in Sunday morning worship service, as needed (announcements, prayer, baptism, & Lord’s Supper)
- Teach Adult Bible Fellowship Classes and/or small group, as needed
- Participate in special worship services, as needed (Christmas Eve Eve & Good Friday)
4) Pastoral Care
- Participate with the pastoral staff in the care of church family (i.e. counseling, hospital visits, prayer)
- Conduct weddings & funerals, as requested
- Partner with deacon team and other volunteers to enhance the administration of our care ministries (i.e. meals, visits, financial help, physical help).
5) Administration/Communication
- Oversee the content of weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter, with input from the pastoral staff and ministry team leaders.
- Utilize additional communication avenues (i.e. print media, social media, video) to promote upcoming connection and growth opportunities, or to spiritually encourage others and help them grow.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Minimum $60,000 annual compensation package, with higher pay offered based on education, and experience. The total compensation package has flexible allotment for salary, housing allowance, health insurance, and retirement.
