Faith Baptist Church of North Chili in western New York is receiving applications for the position of full-time pastor. The successful candidate endorses our Articles of Faith and church governance, is skilled in expository preaching, engages in personal evangelism, and is effective in training disciples to disciple others.

Who We Are

  1. Articles of Faith (What we believe)
  2. Church Agreement (How we seek to live the Christian life)

Faith Baptist Church exists to glorify God by clearly presenting the gospel to the lost and helping believers become mature, flourishing disciples of Christ. We gather together to sing His praises, offer our prayers, hear His Word, and care for one another. We cultivate a family atmosphere where people are accepted and loved, a place where they feel it is safe to be transparent. We build a sense of community by spending time together and by being willing to get involved in each other’s lives for mutual encouragement and to stimulate each other toward spiritual maturity.

It is our vision to be a multicultural, multi-generational church built on a foundation of expository Bible teaching while promoting meaningful relationships within the church and serving the community. We strive to be a church that develops strong, committed followers of Christ by challenging them through practical teaching to live holy lives that honor Christ. We are seeking applicants with a passion for evangelism, discipleship, mentoring, and training parents to disciple their children.

In addition to the preaching ministry of the Word, we offer Sunday school for all ages, AWANA, Teen Club, and Ladies Bible study. Our music ministry is supported by gifted musicians and vocalists who facilitate God-centered corporate worship that teaches biblical truth and honors our great God.

Qualifications

Education: We seek applicants who have formal Bible training from a recognized Christian college/university; a Master’s degree from a conservative, baptistic seminary is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is dedicated to continual study of the Word and lifelong professional development through personal study, online courses, attendance at conferences, or other appropriate opportunities.

Experience: Applicants should be currently serving an active role in a fundamentalist church. We prioritize applicants with demonstrated ability in preaching, teaching, and biblical counseling.

Theological Beliefs: The successful candidate is a conservative, fundamentalist Christian who believes in the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of the Bible and has a high view of its sufficiency for all of life. He is committed to a dispensational approach to interpreting Scripture, including premillennial, pre-tribulation rapture  eschatology, and upholds a literal, six-day creation interpretation of Genesis 1 and 2. He believes and teaches in accordance with and not contrary to the Articles of Faith.

He is committed to the core doctrines of Christianity including salvation through faith alone in Christ alone by grace alone; the eternal security of believers; the virgin birth; the deity of Christ; the substitutionary atonement; the resurrection; the second coming of Christ; and the cessation of the sign gifts. He upholds the biblical definition of marriage as between one man and one woman and the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

Philosophy of Preaching: The successful candidate honors the authority of the Bible, is skilled in expository preaching, and exegetes texts employing a literal, grammatical, historical hermeneutic.

Baptist Distinctives: The successful candidate holds an appreciation of Baptist history and a commitment to the Baptist name and Baptist distinctives. In addition, he appreciates the value of fellowship with like-minded churches in the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches and the Northeast Fellowship.

Ministry Philosophy: The successful candidate believes that the primary tasks of the pastor are to pray, to preach the Word of God, and to equip the saints for the work of ministry. He places a high priority on personal evangelism and discipleship. He values corporate prayer, worship, and fellowship as vital components of a healthy church. He diligently applies himself to not merely knowing God’s Word, but also to obeying God’s commands and teaching the congregation to follow his godly example as he follows Christ.

Pastoral Style: The ideal candidate is compassionate, approachable, and cares deeply for his congregation following the example of the Good Shepherd. He is a good listener and a wise counselor, committed to pastoral care and a biblical counseling approach that includes both encouragement and rebuke. He takes his role as a spiritual leader seriously but is not authoritarian. He is not afraid to speak boldly on moral and social issues that affect the church and the community.

Personal Qualities: The successful candidate demonstrates the qualities delineated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. He is a man of moral, ethical, and financial integrity who seeks to glorify God in his personal life and ministry. He models humility, a teachable spirit, and a willingness to serve. He has a passion for evangelism and missions and is actively involved in outreach and evangelistic efforts in the local community.

Responsibilities

In accordance with the example of the apostles, the pastor prioritizes prayer and the ministry of the Word. The pastor leads the Sunday morning worship service, Sunday evening service, and Wednesday prayer service. He takes an active role in mentoring men and developing discipleship training for new believers, membership training, and leadership training to equip believers to serve and disciple others. He provides loving pastoral care and attends to lambs who have gone astray.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he works together with the church leadership to establish and carry out the vision for the church. He provides biblical counseling; officiates at baptisms, weddings, and funerals; and moderates church business meetings. He is an effective delegator for numerous other tasks that can be executed by deacons and lay volunteers, while maintaining accountability for the completion of these tasks.
