+ Job Title and Overview

The Kid’s Ministry Coordinator provides organization and implementation of ministry birth-4th grade. This position is responsible for weekly curriculum preparation, volunteer coordination, volunteer training, and helping direct Sunday morning services in Denver United Kids Ministry. This position is for 20 hours a week.

+ Job Responsibilities

Volunteer Point of Contact

  • Communicate with all potential and current volunteers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules for Sunday morning services.
  • Train and onboard volunteers and help integrate them into the classroom.
  • Train and uphold volunteers in all safety procedures and policies (internal classroom behavior, external expectations and emergency protocol).

Weekly Service Preparation

  • Prepare classrooms for Sunday morning by collecting, buying, printing, and organizing all curriculum materials.
  • General upkeep of all classrooms.
  • Organization and maintenance of all curriculum supplies and storage closet
  • Help organize and design seasonal initiatives and events (Christmas, Easter, Child Dedication, volunteer appreciation, large series etc.)

Sunday Service

  • Set-up and tear-down of classrooms.
  • Lead and support the Sunday morning volunteers.
  • Point of contact for kids ministry and for minor issues.
  • Teach in classrooms as needed.
  • Follow up with visiting families.

  • Must be a Christ follower and one whose lifestyle aligns with the beliefs and values of Denver United Church.
  • Overall positive and friendly attitude that reflects a desire to serve kids and their families.
  • Passion for children and their growth in knowing Jesus.
  • Manages stressful situations with a calm demeanor.

Experience/Practical Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working children or degree in an adjacent field.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal, in communication with adults and children alike).
  • Fluent in Google Suite and Mac systems.
  • Ability to learn and work with a variety digital platforms easily.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Ability or willingness to edit curriculum as needed.
  • Detail oriented (planning/executing in multiple places at once).

Leadership Requirements

  • Ability to work with and be sensitive to unique needs of children at different ages/abilities.
  • Willingness to lead in a classroom setting and with a group of adult volunteers.
  • Trustworthy and strong work ethic, ability to be a self-starter and anticipate needs of the ministry.
  • Can lead in a high energy environment.
  • Can inspire and influence leaders to embrace and build on the value and culture of United Kids.

+ Compensation and Benefits

  • Part time salary range is $24,000 – $27,000 based on experience for 20 hours a week.
  • Weekday hours are somewhat flexible, Tuesdays & Sundays from 8am-12pm are required.
  • Flexible PTO.

+ Workplace Expectations

  • Report to Lucy and work with her on overall vision and direction of the ministry.
  • Be a team player and help out with other areas in the church (larger events and initiatives while staying within hours).

+ Evaluation and Review

  • Start with a 6 month contract upon which there will be a review to see if employee enjoys their work and is a good culture/performance fit for the needs of the church.
  • Monthly department meetings with oversight for accountability, direction, and encouragement.
