Alternatives Pregnancy Center’s Mission Statement:

Alternatives Pregnancy Center exists to care for Denver-area women and men in pregnancy-related crisis and offer them a meaningful alternative to abortion. Following the example of Christian love, we seek to meet their emotional, physical and spiritual needs. And we enable and encourage them to choose life every day.

We provide a 24-Hour Helpline, pregnancy tests and options counseling, limited ultrasound services, STD testing and treatment, adoption education, pre- and post-natal medical care referrals, financial and legal referrals, counseling after abortion, positive youth development curriculum and sexual risk avoidance education. All services are provided free of charge.

Position Summary:

Provides leadership, support, education, and resources to male volunteers as they serve male clients impacted by their partners unplanned pregnancy. Trained as a male client advocate to provide direct male client support and possible parenting support – all in a faith-based environment.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, including Counseling, psychology, social work, human services, pastoral ministry, theology, biblical studies, leadership, or youth services.
  • Vocational or volunteer experience in church or parachurch ministries.
  • Experience in vulnerable populations and/or crisis counseling.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field, including theology, biblical studies, divinity, business, leadership, psychology/counseling, or social work.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Skills and Attitude:

  • Practices servant leadership and functions with a Christ-like love in professional and personal affairs.
  • Ability to effectively implement Alternatives Pregnancy Center’s Mission and Vision.
  • A well-versed understanding or desire to learn of current and emerging issues related to unintended pregnancy.
  • Strong counseling presence and skills (lay or professional).
  • Must be a self-starter and work well independently.
  • Strong ability to integrate into a close-knit team.
  • Ability to build trust quickly with a diverse client base; cultural competency.
  • Ability to manage and oversee volunteers.
  • Humble, teachable self-starter.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Administratively savvy.
  • Ability to type and navigate technology; including use of Microsoft products and client database.
  • Strong humility trait.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Counsel clients as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support for male clients as needed. Including thorough, consistent follow up phone calls, emails, and texts.
  • Act as an advocate with other agencies to which clients are referred.
  • Travel to the other clinics to serve clients in those locations.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.50 – $23.50 per hour
