Position Summary

Hope House Colorado (HHC) is hiring a grant development officer (GDO). As the GDO you will be responsible for raising 10-15% of the annual income goal through grant funds, ultimately increasing the organization’s ability to empower teen moms and their children. You will maintain current funder relationships and continually seek new relationships and opportunities through extensive and ongoing research. You will work closely with the program team to understand program goals and results, and with the finance team for reporting. You will support the director of development (DOD) in planned giving, corporate match efforts and assigned event activities. As the GOD, you will report to the communication manager (CM) and assists the CM with completion of reports for nonprofit watchdogs and evaluators, data collection, affiliate support and editing functions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage all aspects of grant writing; LOI’s, grant proposals, reporting and research
  • Regularly research new grant funding opportunities ensuring that the annual grant goal is met through a mixture of existing and new grant funding
  • Research avenues for national-level funding to help with national funding efforts for expansion work
  • Manage internal stats spreadsheet; research and track stats in our field, update HHC program statistics
  • Understand which current issues in the community grantors are focusing on and work with program staff to determine measurements and metrics that are relevant to both our programs and grantors
  • Manage the annual grant calendar and update timelines for applications and reports in Instrumentl, and communicate where grant opportunities are in the process to CM, DOD, ED and DPr
  • Schedule site visits and assist ED and DOD with tours
  • Obtain grant funding for future capital campaign and early learning center as directed
  • Manage charity watchdog profiles and work with appropriate internal staff to acquire statistics needed
  • Assist with 5K, golf tournament and annual gala as assigned
  • Support DOD in developing and implementing a strategy for growing the following income streams: planned giving (Legacy Builders) and corporate match
  • Promoting Hope House Colorado’s Core Values throughout the organization and external relationships

  • Bachelor’s Degree – communication or public relations (preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal and in-person communication skills (required)
  • Proficient in AP Style (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • Highly organized (required)
  • Ability to do extensive research
  • Common Grant Application experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of nonprofit financial documents needed for grant applications (preferred)
  • Capital Campaign grant experience (preferred)
  • Experience utilizing Instrumentl and Raiser’s Edge for grant organization (preferred)
  • You are available to work onsite at our Arvada location Monday-Friday (required)

Salary Range

$50,000 – $60,000 per year

Benefits

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 24 hours per week or more are eligible for the below benefits

  • Health Benefits: Employees may elect medical, dental, vision & life insurance plans.
  • Simple IRA: Employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions through HHC’s Simple IRA plan and HHC will match the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s annual salary.
  • Vacation: Upon hire, employees earn 6 hours of vacation per paycheck up to 120 hours (3 weeks) in a year. Accruals are adjusted to increase vacation earned per hours worked based on length of employment with HHC.
  • Holidays: HHC observes eleven (11) holidays throughout the year. Salaried employees are paid for these holidays according to the nationally recognized observation day for each holiday. In addition, salaried employees are currently gifted either the week of Christmas or the week of New Year’s off, to be scheduled at the discretion of their supervisor.
  • Sick Leave: HHC provides eligible employees with Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) and Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) in accordance with the requirements of Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).
  • Employer Based Childcare: Employer Based Childcare: Employees receive a 30% discount for their child(ren)’s child care tuition if they are enrolled in the Hope House Colorado Early Learning Center.
  • Hope House Colorado is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program! HHC provides employees with free assistance navigating the PSLF program to submit their federal student loans for forgiveness
