Facility Maintenance and Mechanical Technician
This position offices in-person, on campus
ROLE SUMMARY
The Facility Maintenance and Mechanical Technician is a skilled and motivated member of Valor’s Facilities team. This vital role is responsible for the overall upkeep, repair, and optimization of Valor’s facility’s mechanical systems and infrastructure. The Facility Maintenance and Mechanical Technician plays a key part in ensuring all equipment and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
This person’s expertise will directly impact the comfort and productivity of Valor’s learning and working environment and the overall functionality of its operations. The Facility Maintenance and Mechanical Technician performs a variety of tasks, including preventive maintenance, repair and replacement, and system control oversight, while also maintaining meticulous records of these activities. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a Christ-centric, faith-based environment.
This role will not only maintain Valor’s physical environment but also contribute to creating a culture of safety and efficiency, with a passion for keeping our facilities in top condition. Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for management and oversight of the Preventative Maintenance software program and system controls
-
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, mechanical equipment, plumbing and electrical

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment to minimize downtime
-
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations, ensuring timely resolution

Manage and monitor third-party contractor and vendor relationships

Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, mechanical inventory, and repair and replacement
Secondary Responsibilities

Collaborate with other team members to develop, implement and adhere to preventative maintenance standards and schedules

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in all maintenance activities

Serve as the primary point of contact for fire, elevator, boiler(s) and other local/state department inspections

Serve as a team member within the facility department to assist and help support all facility activities, as needed

RESULTS
This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation and condition of the school’s mechanical systems and physical assets. Expected contributions include maintaining operational efficiencies, assisting in cost reduction by maintaining preventative maintenance standards and improving and maintaining the schools facility value to enhance our reputation and property values.
Additionally, this role contributes to budget planning, forecasting, lifecycle planning, resource allocation and setting operational priorities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree or Vocational Training/Certification in General Maintenance required
-
At least 2-5 years of work experience in facility maintenance or related field
-
Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC systems, general mechanical, electrical and plumbing
-
Hands-On Skills: Proficiency in using tools and equipment relevant to facility maintenance, such as power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment
-
Problem-Solving Skills: Experience in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of issues related to building maintenance and related systems
-
Basic Computer and Communication Skills: Familiarity with maintenance management software and good communication skills for interacting with team members and peers
-
Willingness to work outside of normal shift hours, including nights and weekends, when necessary, as maintenance needs can arise unexpectedly
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift heavy objects, often up to 50lbs, such as equipment or materials

Standing/Walking: Varying periods of standing/walking on various surfaces, often in different environments

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
POSITION TYPE: C: Year-round schedule. 12-Month Calendar. This position offices in-person, on campus.
HOURS PER WEEK: Full-Time, Non-Exempt. Regular Shift Hours: Weekdays-8am-4:30pm. OT may be required occasionally on evenings or weekends for special events, maintenance issues, and/or emergencies that require facility support or maintenance needs. This role requires the ability to respond quickly to facility emergency situations.
