Executive Pastor Job Description

Position Title: Executive Pastor

Reports To: Elder Board

Position Overview:

The Executive Pastor (XP) will provide strategic leadership and operational management for Tower Hill Church, ensuring the effective implementation of the church’s mission and vision. The XP will work closely with the Elder Board (of which the Lead Pastor is a part of) to align all church ministries and administrative functions, supporting the church’s growth and development. We are a thriving Bible Fellowship church with an average attendance of 600+, and budget of $1.5m+. Our staff also includes a Lead Pastor, Youth Pastor, Director of Children’s Ministry, Director of Worship, and Connections Pastor along with five other full and part-time staff members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Leadership and Vision:

·      Collaborate with the Elder Board to implement the church’s vision and strategic plans.

·      Provide leadership to the church staff, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and values.

·      Oversee the development and implementation of ministry goals and objectives.

·      Represent the church in all contractual, business, financial, and legal matters.

·      Serve as a member of the Elder Board

2.    Operational Management:

·     Manage the day-to-day operations of the church, including administration, finance, and facilities.

·      Advise, inform and work with the Elder Board regarding staff issues, gaps and needs.

·      Maintain regular communication with the board regarding staff, ministry and pastoral needs within the assembly.

·      Provide oversight of the church’s facilities

·      Ensure effective and efficient utilization of church resources.

·      Develop and oversee church policies and procedures.

·      Assign and oversee special projects as directed by the Elders.

3.    Staff Development:

·      Supervise daily/weekly schedules and workflow of staff.

·      Conduct regular staff meetings to promote communication and teamwork.

·      Support the spiritual health and development of the staff

·      Conduct regular career/performance counseling with pastors and staff.

·      Conduct annual performance reviews with pastors and staff.

·      Conduct regular reviews of job descriptions to ensure alignment with work being done.

4.    Financial Oversight:

·      Oversee implementation of the church’s budget, planning, and stewardship efforts.

·      Ensure financial integrity and accountability.

·      Work with finance to manage tithes, offerings, and other revenue streams.

5.    Ministry Coordination:

·      Coordinate with ministry leaders to ensure the effective support of programs and services.

·      Assist the Elders in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of ministries and initiatives.

·      Participate in worship, prayer meetings, and other ministries activities within the church.

·      Support the development and execution of church events and activities.

·      Assist the Elder board in addressing any issues or conflicts within the ministries.

·      Manage scheduling of guest speakers when Lead Pastor is absent.

6.    Communication:

·      Have a deep understanding of the Bible and have effective preaching/teaching skills.

·      Serve as a key point of contact for church members, staff and the Elder Board addressing concerns and facilitating communication.

·      Assist in the development and dissemination of church communications, including newsletters, bulletins, and social media.

 

Qualifications:

·      A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission and values of Tower Hill Church.

·      Acceptance of the 16 Fundamental Truths as listed on the Assemblies of God website (ag.org)

·      A proven track record of servant leadership

·      Credentialed with the Assemblies of God preferred

·      Bachelor’s degree in theology, Ministry, Business Administration, or related field.

·      Minimum of 7 years of experience in church leadership or administration.

·      Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

·      Proven ability to manage staff and resources effectively.

·      Financial acumen and experience in budget management.

·      Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

·      Must be able to pass a background check to be hired.
