English Associate Pastor for Young Adults and Young Families
The Greater Phoenix Chinese Christian Church (“GPCCC”), located in Chandler, Arizona, is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, nondenominational, evangelical Christian church serving the rapidly growing and diverse communities in the greater Phoenix area. GPCCC consists of three congregations serving, respectively, the English, Mandarin, and Cantonese-speaking communities in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Approximately 150 adults of various ethnic backgrounds currently attend the English congregation. This congregation, which has experienced significant growth in both size and diversity in the last five years, is currently seeking a qualified individual who has a special calling to disciple young adults and young families in a fast growing, multi-ethnic environment. This individual will be part of our “English congregation pastoral team” led by the Lead English Pastor. The Associate Pastor’s responsibilities will include:
- Shepherding and caring for young adults and young families in the congregation;
- Promoting members’ spiritual growth through developing and leading small groups with associated programs and activities;
- Delivering sermons periodically; and
- Participating in other church-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
- Scriptural Qualifications
- Called by God to be the shepherd of the flock (1 Peter 5:1-4).
- Be a person of character and testimony as in 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
- GPCCC-Specific Qualifications
- Hold doctrinal belief in line with GPCCC.
- Agree with and will uphold GPCCC by-laws.
- Ministerial Qualifications
- Has held full-time, paid, pastor positions in English-speaking congregations (preferably in North America) for more than 3 years.
- Had proven ability and experience to work with a team of pastoral staff.
- Gifted in caring, discipleship, teaching, counseling, and preaching.
- Personal Qualifications
- Married pastor, preferably with some experience in marriage counseling (marriage as defined in the Bible, Gen 2; 1 Cor 7; Eph 5).
- Must be able to communicate in English fluently. The ability to communicate in Chinese is not required.
- Prefer someone who enjoys the challenge of working in a multi-ethnic environment.
- Must have a minimum degree of M.Div. (or equivalent) from an acceptable seminary.
