Early Childhood Coordinator
| Role and Responsibilities
The purpose of the Early Childhood Coordinator is to partner with the Children’s Ministry Director and Valley View Christian Church in helping children—from birth through age six—and their families follow Jesus. This role provides hands-on leadership and practical support for early childhood ministry programs, including Sunday morning environments, summer programming, and special events. Our heart is to see young children grow in their knowledge of and love for Jesus Christ. The Early Childhood Coordinator will serve both behind the scenes and in visible leadership on Sunday mornings—praying for, equipping, and supporting children, families, and volunteer leaders to create a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered ministry environment. Primary Responsibilities1. Spiritual & Ministry Leadership· Oversee all Sunday morning environments for preschool and kindergarten. · Ensure teaching is biblically sound, age-appropriate, and aligned with the church’s doctrinal convictions. · Select, organize, and implement curriculum (in collaboration with church leadership). · Create a welcoming and spiritually engaging environment for children and families. · Model Christlike leadership and relational warmth. 2. Kingdom Worker Recruitment & Development· Recruit, onboard, train, and schedule volunteer leaders and helpers. · Build healthy volunteer teams with clear expectations and encouragement. · Provide ongoing coaching and spiritual support for volunteers. · Maintain background checks and safety compliance for all team members. · Develop substitute systems to ensure full coverage weekly. 3. Sunday Morning Oversight· Ensure classrooms are fully staffed and prepared before each service. · Oversee child check-in and check-out procedures. · Respond to parent needs and classroom issues during services. · Maintain safe child-to-volunteer ratios. · Ensure classrooms are clean, organized, and stocked. 4. Safety & Policy Implementation· Implement and uphold church safety policies. · Maintain emergency procedures and volunteer training. · Ensure classrooms meet safety and health standards. · Communicate clearly with parents regarding allergies, behavioral concerns, or special needs. 5. Family Partnership & Communication· Serve as a primary contact for families of children 3–6. · Communicate regularly with parents about curriculum, events, and ministry updates. · Welcome new families and assist with integration into the ministry. · Encourage at-home discipleship through recommended resources and tools. 6. Administrative Responsibilities· Manage weekly scheduling of Kingdom Workers. · Maintain classroom supplies and submit budget needs. · Organize seasonal events as needed (Christmas, Easter, etc.). · Participate in relevant staff meetings. Time Expectations (Approximate Breakdown – 15 hrs/week)· Sunday Morning Oversight: 4–5 hours · Volunteer Coordination & Scheduling: 3–4 hours · Curriculum Prep & Classroom Setup: 3–4 hours · Communication & Administration: 2–3 hours · Leadership Meetings / Planning: 1–2 hours |
