Position Summary: This position is part of the Department Head leadership team for the organization.

Works with the Executive Director and the Director of Communications & Community Development to plan, structure and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual financial needs of the organization in all program areas. Director of Development will engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the individual donor development cycle including donor identification, qualification, cultivation, invitation and stewardship. Creates and maintains partnerships with businesses and corporate sponsors to advance financial growth of the organization. Director of Development works closely with the Database Administrator to execute the strategic plan and analyze outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for direct supervision of the Development team members (staff and volunteers).

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field with preferably 3+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Has demonstrated success in identifying and/or creating mutually beneficial partnerships with donors.
  • Experience in community relations and public speaking.
  • Experience with fundraising preferred, emphasis on Major Gifts and Annual Giving focused programs.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With the Executive Director and Director of Communications, develop a strategic plan to meet the fundraising needs of the organization annually to maintain and grow all programs of the mission.
  • Oversight and execution of the fundraising strategy with priority focus on
    • Annual Giving
    • Major Donors
    • Recurring Donors (Lifeline Advocates from all fund types).
    • Lead generation strategies.
  • Engage and be responsible for all aspects of the individual donor development cycle including donor identification, qualification, cultivation, invitation, stewardship and retention.
  • Accountable for cultivating relationships through regular contact with Alternatives donors and prospective donors to ultimately solicit and acquire financial contributions.
  • Manages outside organizations and contracts with a donor facing relationship, i.e., Workplace Giving: Community Health Charity, Community First – Colorado Gives Day, Guide Star listing, Combined Federal Campaign.
  • Manage execution of events as needed in the overall strategy of donor relationships (stewardship) and income generating (fundraising).
  • Provides input into the income projections and expenditures for the annual budgeting process.
  • Responsible for positional budget expenditures and income goals in the annual board approved budget.
  • Managing development projects through Asana project management platform.
  • Representing Alternatives at churches with an ability to speak publicly and present from the stage.

Administration:

  • Department Head leadership responsibilities as a member of the executive team.
  • Analyzing data reports and oversite of donor and lead audiences through channels of reach utilizing the CRM.
  • Utilize SharePoint 365 and Microsoft office suite of tools for fulfillment of job responsibilities.
  • Proficient at Excel and Word.
