GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:

The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Director of MarCom to implement the strategic communications plan, ensuring high-quality communications and increasing the Seminary’s brand awareness. The individual should be detail-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines, flexible, and experienced with supporting an organization’s internal and external communication to a variety of audiences via websites, email, social media, media relations, print, and events. The ideal candidate will be proficient with MS Office and standard office equipment, able to clearly and effectively communicate in writing and orally, and have strong administrative and organizational skills. He/She will provide support with project management, social media, events, PR, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Support the webmaster as needed to oversee the integrity, accuracy, and content of the Denver Seminary website.
  2. Generate content for website.
  3. Work with media & MarCom teams on web optimization and analysis.
  4. Manage social media channels, including but not limited to Twitter, YouTube, Instagram,

Facebook and LinkedIn.

  1. Grow social media intentionally to engage current followers and to grow the number of

followers, including potential students, current students, alumni, community members, and others.

  1. Proactively engage on the Seminary’s behalf on social media and on other pages where appropriate.
  2. Support the Seminary’s reputational management on the Seminary’s social media and on other social media sites.
  3. Help maintain brand standards and integrity online and in print.
  4. Provide support for the Seminary’s print and online publications, including: Engage Magazine, Advent Devotional, President’s Report, and others. This includes managing timelines, reaching out to prospective contributors, generating content, and coordinating vendors.
  5. Write and distribute media releases, PSAs, etc.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Act as the Seminary photographer as needed.
  2. Support event communication between pre- and post-events, as well as during events.
  3. Process invoices in a timely manner.
  4. Work with the media team to maintain and update a repository of photos and digital assets
  5. Maintain and update the Seminary’s media database.
  6. Maintain a bank of media mentions and hits/successes library.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or other related degree, from an
  • accredited institution.
  • 2-3 years of communications experience in business, nonprofit, or higher education.
  • Experience managing and growing social media in business, nonprofit, and/or higher
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Comfortable communicating with internal and external audiences orally and in writing.
  • Proficient with Mac.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Normal office working conditions, including computer usage, may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
