Children’s Pastor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Spiritual Leadership & Vision
Develop and execute a cohesive discipleship strategy for children (Pre-K through 5th or 6th grade), aligned with OBC’s heart-centered ministry.
Utilize approved curricula (e.g., Gospel Project, HeartShaper) to craft ministry experiences rooted in grace, truth, and biblical permanence
Program Oversight & Coordination
Direct Sunday morning Children’s Sunday School (9:45–10:45 AM) and Children’s Worship (11:00–12:00 PM), ensuring engaging, age-appropriate lessons, worship, and community activities
Supervise midweek family-focused programs such as “OBC Kidz Wednesday” and special events like Vacation Bible School, summer camp, and fall festivals
Volunteer Recruitment & Development
Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders, ensuring compliance with background checks, orientation, and ongoing spiritual development—maintaining at least two vetted leaders per classroom
Family Engagement & Communication
Build meaningful relationships with parents and caregivers—welcoming families, fostering effective communication, and partnering to reinforce children’s spiritual growth at home
Safety & Administration
Oversee check-in procedures, classroom safety, secure drop-off systems, and timely parent communication. Ensure all policies are consistently followed to honor OBC’s commitment to a “joyful, fun, loving, caring, and safe place” for every child
QUALIFICATIONS:
A mature, biblically grounded follower of Christ aligned with Oakdale’s mission and beliefs.
Previous children’s ministry leadership experience, including curriculum planning and large-event coordination.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively oversee volunteers and connect with families.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with particular care for safety and confidentiality.
Ability to collaborate across pastoral teams and church-wide platforms for ministry integration.
