Spark Kids Ministry Leader

(Toddlers – 5th Grade)

 

beacon is a multicultural, mutigenerational, non-denominational church Denver, CO. Led by Pastor CB Barthlow, beacon exists to help broken people be rebuilt and then shine the light of Jesus to a dark world. beacon provides Bible teaching, prayer and worship services to our growing congregation, each of which is led by individuals gifted in that area.

 

 

Position Summary

The Spark Kids Ministry Leader provides vision, leadership, and oversight for Spark Kids, serving children from toddlers through 5th grade. This role ensures that all ministry programming reflects the mission of sparking interest in God and Jesus in the lives of children. The leader manages administration, curriculum, volunteer teams, and events to create an engaging, safe, and spiritually enriching environment for children and their families.

 

Key Responsibilities

Administration & Operations (25%)

  • Oversee weekly ministry logistics, including classroom set-up, supplies, and scheduling.
  • Oversee ministry ordering of curriculum/supplies as needed.
  • Maintain records of attendance, volunteer background checks, and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with church safety policies and child protection guidelines.

Volunteer & Team Management (25%)

  • Manage Spark Leadership team, including Managers & Schedulers.
  • Lead Bi- weekly evening planning meetings with Spark Leadership Team.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers, including short-term support from other ministries.
  • Oversee scheduling and management of volunteers for Sunday services and events.
  • Provide encouragement, feedback, and conflict resolution when needed.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and spiritual growth.

Leadership & Ministry Development (25%)

  • Provide spiritual leadership to children, families, and volunteers.
  • Create sustainable systems for volunteer rest days, rotations, and manager support.
  • Partner with pastoral staff to align Spark Kids with the broader vision of the church.
  • Evaluate and refine ministry practices to improve impact and growth.
  • Innovate and launch new initiatives/events to engage families and the wider community.
  • Coordinate with other ministry leads to ensure alignment.

 

Curriculum & Programming (25%)

  • Select and train on implementing age-appropriate, non-denominational, expository-based curriculum.
  • Plan out scope and sequence of materials to fit developmental stages.
  • Manage the team to prepare and distribute weekly lesson materials to teachers/volunteers.
  • Manage sunday structure and ensure it runs effectively and efficiently

 

Qualifications

  • Professing Christian, maintaining a growing relationship with Jesus daily through, prayer, worship and study of His Word.
  • beacon member in good standing, as defined by involvement in service teams, small groups and faithful giving.
  • Continual learner demonstrating a working and growing knowledge of scripture for application in both personal life and the help of others.
  • 3-5 year’s experience leading children across various settings.
  • 2-3 year’s experience leading peer teams in various settings.
  • Passion for children’s ministry and fostering spiritual growth in young people.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Experience in volunteer leadership, team management, or ministry coordination.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and lay leaders.
  • Flexible, creative, and committed to serving in alignment with the church’s mission.
