Description:

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the management and oversight of all exam development functions for one or more of the BACB’s examinations. The role requires autonomy and independent decision making informed by a strong foundation of testing industry knowledge. This role ensures initiatives are implemented and department goals are reached. Ongoing testing-related tasks must be managed and successfully executed through continuous planning and development.

Requirements
  • Develop and manage exam development initiatives and timelines.
  • Oversee item development workshop coordination and logistics.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with volunteer subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Lead and facilitate SME item development workshops and meetings (i.e., Item Writing, Item Review, and Form Review).
  • Identify ongoing training and development needs for volunteer SMEs and direct reports.
  • Collaborate in the design, development, and implementation of training and resources for volunteer SMEs and direct reports.
  •  Manage the staff item review process of all content related to their specific examination, ensuring test items align with exam blueprints and BACB style guidelines.
  • Manage item bank health to ensure exam development needs are identified and met.
  • Facilitate exam form assembly using psychometric best practices and principles, ensuring a balance of difficulty, content coverage, and format.
  • Analyze exam performance data (e.g., item difficulty, discrimination indices) to identify and address issues.
  • Collaborate with Psychometricians to ensure the defensibility of exams and to interpret and report on exam performance data.
  • Supervise and collaborate with all necessary third-party vendors for services (i.e., exam publishing, program management, security, and psychometrics).
  • Contribute to the development of examination-related documents and analytic reports for NCCA accreditation and BACB executive leadership.
  • Oversee resolution of certification candidate issues related to exam administration, authorizations, and appeals.
  • Supervise, manage and direct Certification Program Coordinator activities.
  • Operation of BACB passenger van to transport SMEs to and from volunteer activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, statistics, education, or instructional design or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing exam development or assessment-based activities in credentialing required.
  • Completion of the Institute of Credentialing Excellence Credentialing Specialist Certificate OR the ability to complete the Credentialing Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hiring is required.
  • 3 years of direct supervisory experience is required.
  • 3 years of managing the development and delivery of testing assessments is required.
  • 1 year of experience in meeting planning, preparation, and execution is required.
  • Experienced with multiple technologies (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, exam development platforms).
  •  Ability to work evenings.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Credentialing Specialist Certification (ICE-CCP) certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience in applied behavior analysis is a plus.

Employment Authorization: Candidates must have the ability to work unrestricted in the U.S. The BACB does not offer visa sponsorship of any kind. Successful completion of a background check is required after the offer of employment. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and video conferencing.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen and speak. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the ability to lift and carry a laptop, lift files, open filing cabinets, frequently type, bend and reach as necessary is essential to the position.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a regular full-time IN OFFICE position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening, holidays, and weekend work may be required based on operations.

Campus Wellness: The BACB is a tobacco and vape free campus. Consumption of tobacco products or vaping of any kind is prohibited.

Travel: Minimal travel is expected for this position.
