Elmbrook’s vision is to help people become Rooted in Jesus Christ and Released to His mission in our homes, communities, and world. The Campus Pastor position at Elmbrook Church is a role with significance and influence over a multi-site campus. This role requires a person who has a proven record of having a passion for those who are not in church. They will lead the campus staff team in creating and executing life-changing weekend experiences, drawing people who are spiritually adrift through the doors of the church, rooting them in Jesus so that they can be released to serve both within the church, and in their other significant areas of influence.  The Campus pastor of an Elmbrook campus is one who embodies the DNA of Elmbrook Church and is able to pass it onto the staff team, leaders and ultimately to the congregation. A Campus Pastor fully commits to the vision and mission of Elmbrook church, coming under the authority of the senior leadership with a direct report to the Mission and Multi-site Executive Pastor.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Pastoral Responsibilities
    • Presence (pastoral in nature)
    • Tuesday staff and pastoral meetings (participate in other staff and leadership engagements as scheduled.
    • General pastoral duties as appropriate including but not limited to shepherding and caring for the congregation, counseling, visitation, funerals and weddings.
  • Preaching & Platform
  • The Campus Pastor needs to be a dynamic speaker who is able to connect the truths of Scripture in a relevant way to the Lake Country campus. He or she must be accessible to both believers and those searching alike.
    • Weekend preaching, as part of the wider Elmbrook Church teaching team rotation. He or she will preach in approximately 50% of the weekend services.

  • Champion & Coordination
    • Champion the Lake Country – Brookfield central services/campus connection
    • Communicate the vision and mission of Elmbrook Church consistently as the framework for everything that is done.
    • Engage in positive contributions to other hubs and roles as a member of the wider Elmbrook church. Significantly and necessarily engaging with the ‘Champions’ of the different ministries of the church so that there is consistency in the feel, message and experience of all who interact with the ministries of the Elmbrook Church.

    • Facilitate staff meetings.
    • Create a ‘Multiply at every levels’ expectation and environment among the leaders.
  • Administrative Oversight
    • Interphase with HR and other leaders in strategic hiring of individuals.
    • Financial oversight of campus current and future fiscal forecasting needs.  Develop and manage campus budget in cooperation with campus operations director and Elmbrook Central Services.
  • Outreach Focused
    • The Campus Pastor must have a passion for those outside of the church.  He or she will be responsible to develop a strategy to mobilize the campus to reach the 83% of people who do not attend church in the Lake Country area.

Qualifications

The candidate is a passionate Christ-follower who will:

  • Demonstrate a stable, mature, vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by on-going personal life transformation.
  • Active member or participant of Elmbrook church who supports and endorses the statement of faith, vision, mission and core values.
  • Provide strategic leadership –implementing the vision and mission of the church through the congregation.
  • Proven track record of multiplying a congregation, pouring into leaders and releasing people to their areas of service.
  • Completed a bachelor level education and pursuing seminary coursework or higher. In addition, he/she needs to display exposure to conferences, cohorts, and networks that strengthen an understanding of the contemporary global church.
  • Strong leadership, relational planning, teaching and coaching skills.
  • Display an ability to influence the culture of the church so that it is known as a place where people find a home and acceptance, but also where they are inspired to reach out to their networks effectively.
  • Influence the composition, equipping and engagement of a staff team so that they are making the necessary steps along the leadership and transformational pipeline of Elmbrook Church.
  • Model servant leadership by attitude and practice, generous with time and serving with positive, infectious, optimistic attitude.
  • Demonstrate a desire to build a positive relational energy on the campus among both pastoral staff and volunteers.
  • Proven strong, long-term teaching and communication skills.
  • One who displays clear evidence of multiplication of leaders and disciples around him.
  • Needs to display bold leadership in forging new paths aimed at on-ramping people to church.
  • Lead/participate and provide a consistent leadership presence in staff meetings, team meetings and leadership meetings.
  • Display an ability to stop non-aligned programs and events so that the resources of the campus are optimized.
  • Team Player. The Campus Pastor needs to exhibit a strong team spirit.  While he or she will have leadership over the Lake Country campus, they need to be able and willing to serve under the leadership of Elmbrook Church and align themselves and the campus to the vision of Elmbrook. The Campus Pastor will live out the cultural staff values, and be committed to the implementation of the Elmbrook Church Vision Frame for the Lake Country campus.
  • Person of Character. The Campus pastor will understand that his or her life is their most important message to the community.  They will not pretend to be perfect but live a life of vulnerability, willingly admitting and seeking help where they need it.  As such, they will take their own connection to God, and connection to their family with the utmost importance.

Employment Information

This position is full-time, salaried and classified as exempt 40 hours/week.

Salary – dependent on experience, skills & education

This position is eligible for all benefits associated with full-time employment including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.  Refer to the Staff Handbook and information provided by Elmbrook’s insurance vendors for specific details.

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO.  PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Entry dates for the 403b plan are the first of the month following the date of hire.  On an employee’s first anniversary, Elmbrook will match up to 3%.

Holidays – Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

Additional Pastoral Benefits

  • Self-Employment

Elmbrook pastors are self-employed and responsible for filing and paying their federal and state income taxes.  Pastors who receive net earnings of at least $400 from the performance of pastoral duties must file a federal tax return regardless of whether they are exempt from Social Security coverage.

  • Housing Allowance

A housing allowance is given to our pastors for residence compensation.  You will receive a form from our HR Department for pastors to complete in order to assist us in determining the amount of housing allowance you will receive.  Pastors are permitted to exclude from their church income (for federal income tax purposes) a housing allowance designated by their employing church, to the extent that this allowance is used to pay housing expenses.

  • SECA

The Self Employment Contributions Act refers to the rate that self-employed people pay for Social Security. Self-employed persons pay the full SECA rate which is currently 15.3%.  Housing allowances are taxable for SECA tax calculations.  Elmbrook Church will pay each pastor approximately one-half of the pastor’s SECA pay. Through an established calculation, payments are disbursed during the last payroll of both June and December.

Reporting Structure

The position title will be accountable and report directly to the Senior Associate Pastor of Elmbrook Church.
