PURPOSE AND ROLE:
Lindsborg Covenant Church (LCC) seeks to fill the full-time position of Associate Pastor of Youth & Worship, primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of student ministries. The candidate will be responsible for both middle and high school programs (Grades 7-12). While the role of the youth pastor is multifaceted, the mission is always the same: Introduce the youth of the Lindsborg community to Jesus and help them mature spiritually. The position also includes enhancing the effectiveness of Sunday morning worship.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Youth Pastor must have a love for God, a love for God’s Word, a love for the youth of our church and community, and a passion to share Jesus with others. In addition, the following requirements will be considered:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
– Have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
– Effective teacher of biblical principles
– Possess two or more years of ministry experience
– Hold or be willing to pursue Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) ministerial credentials per covchurch.org
– Commit to a team approach to ministry including recruiting, discipling, and sustaining a volunteer leadership team
– Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and execute retreats, camps, and mission trips
– Relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today’s culture and specifically in the Lindsborg area
– Possess skills in organization and written communication

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
– Musical aptitude and abilities
– Seminary degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leading:
– Ensure the youth ministry is functioning in an effective, focused manner
– Recruit, train, and mobilize adult youth leaders
– Submit and effectively manage an annual budget
– Oversee any fundraising efforts for youth ministries
– Assist the other pastors in coordinating contemporary and traditional worship services
Programming:
– Develop comprehensive, well-balanced biblical instruction for spiritual growth
– Assume the role as primary teacher and provide teaching opportunities to other qualified volunteers
– Plan, oversee, and execute regular youth mission trips and special events
– Teach Confirmation classes annually
– Engage parents and youth teachers as vital partners
– Provide opportunities for the training and discipling of youth
– Provide strong spiritual support and counsel for youth dealing with personal issues or crisis in their lives
Other Responsibilities:
– Participate in staff meetings
– Communicate with relevant church leaders
– Participate in the weekly worship services
– Oversee grades 9-12 Sunday school programs
– Pursue general pastoral responsibilities under the direction of the lead pastor
– Participate in the Christian Education Board meetings and the monthly Church Board meetings
– Utilize relevant social media platforms in support of the youth ministry that will engage and motivate
– Continue to develop theological and biblical knowledge through ongoing training and study

COMPENSATION:
Salary and housing allowance are commensurate with education, experience, credentials, and qualifications. Additional benefits include health insurance, participation in the Covenant Pension program, professional expense account, continuing education support, vacation, and sabbatical leave.

ABOUT US:
Lindsborg (pop.3,800) is a vibrant rural community situated between Salina to the north and Wichita to the south, both of which have airports with service to major airlines. We are a community rich in Swedish-American traditions and festivals with a thriving downtown. Culturally focused on the arts and education, Lindsborg also has a strong agricultural presence. K-12 schools along with a private college are key in helping the community attract and retain families to the area. We have a vibrant youth ministry with 20 to 30 middle school students and 15 to 20 high school students, with lots of room to grow. LCC is the only church in our community that historically staffs a full-time youth pastor. Our youth
facilities are well equipped for the gathering of big groups, and include space for a youth worship team. Currently, our youth team includes a part-time youth director and adult volunteers as we seek to fill this position.
