About Faith Baptist Church
Faith Baptist Church is located in Hampton, Iowa and was first established in 1973. Faith Baptist Church is affiliated with North Central and Converge Worldwide. Our vision statement is: Pursing people with the passion of Christ. As a body, we are led by a team of elders and deacons who constitute the Council, who pastor and shepherd our church while holding us to our true mission. Faith currently consists of 147 members, with approximately 180 people attending Sunday worship services. Hampton has a population of 4,200 and is the county seat for Franklin County in rural Iowa. Hampton has a growing Hispanic population comprising 27% of the population and 40% of the school district.
Position Summary
The Associate Pastor of Discipleship will be a man who demonstrates spiritual maturity and meets the Biblical qualifications for leadership. His primary responsibilities will be to effectively oversee and champion the vision of Discipleship Groups for all ages across the children, youth, and adult ministries. He will support, mentor, and equip the deacons and group leaders of these ministry teams.
Education & Experience
- A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Demonstrated ability in mentoring and leadership development.
- Experience in leading small groups and helping people grow in their faith.
- If married, has a strong marriage with his wife actively supporting the ministry.
- Preferred college degree with experience in discipleship ministry and/or a master’s degree from an accredited seminary.
Accountability
- Ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ as His under-shepherd for the well-being and the spiritual development of the Christ followers of Faith.
- This position is hired by the Council and will report directly to the Lead Pastor.
Qualifications
- Meets the Biblical qualifications for leadership as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- A compassionate heart for people and a desire to help them strengthen their journey of faith in their relationship with God with an attitude of grace.
- Solid knowledge of the Scriptures with good application teaching ability.
- Able to work with people of all ages.
- A team player with good communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Good organizational and administration skills with the ability to delegate.
- Technological abilities in computers, networking, social media, etc.
Essential Job Functions
- Effectively execute the Faith Family Discipleship model: Connect, Grow, Serve.
- Meet regularly with the deacons of Children, Youth, and Adult Discipleship to support and oversee their roles.
- Provide leadership development and mentoring to equip and support Discipleship Group leaders.
- Assist with strategic planning, provide resources, and technological support.
- Create tools to measure effectiveness for the three benchmarks of our discipleship model: Connect, Grow, Serve.
- Assist Lead Pastor with funerals, weddings, care and counseling, and preaching as needed.
