Overview

New Life Mission Church of Colorado (NLMC of Colorado) is an evangelical reformed church within the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). We are dedicated to honoring Christ through faithful preaching and teaching of the Word, the administration of the sacraments, the equipping and sanctification of the saints, and evangelism to the lost.

Our church promotes a “cohabitation” model, encompassing both Korean and English-speaking ministries within the Reformed faith. Our membership consists of 400+ Korean Ministry (KM) adults, 100+ English Ministry (EM) adults, and 100+ children. We are prayerfully seeking a full-time Education Pastor who can call NLMC Colorado home!

Qualifications

Education: Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary with previous pastoral experience.

Character: Exhibit qualifications for biblical eldership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

Calling: A calling and passion for discipling and educating children and youth in the Lord.

Skills: Effective communication skills with the parents of children and youth involved in the church’s education system.

Cultural Navigation: Ability to navigate and work across both Korean and English ministry cultures.

Evangelism: A heart for local and global evangelism, in accordance with Matthew 28:19-20.

Pastoral Duties and Responsibilities

Sessional Duties

Represent the Education Department by providing updates to the Elders on programs, decisions, and issues related to education.

Communicate Sessional matters to the Education Directors and the broader church body.

Education Department Responsibilities

Oversee, lead, inspire, and encourage the directors of the education departments and their ministries to pursue health and excellence.

Research, select, and submit curriculum for all Education Ministries for Sessional approval.

Facilitate worship for Youth Ministry and supervise elementary children’s worship.

Coordinate enlistment of teachers and substitutes and provide teacher training as needed.

Coordinate and attend all Education Department meetings with lay staff and directors.

Oversee the planning of special events for Infant and Toddler Ministry, Pre-K Ministry, Children’s Ministry (grades K-5) & Youth Ministry (grades 6-12).

Continue to learn the latest methods in church education and execute effective strategies in the Education Department.

Report on a regular basis to supporting Deacon(s)/Elder(s) of all education ministries and supporting Elder(s) for Session.

Youth Ministry Responsibilities (Grades 6-12)

Lead weekly Friday night meetings (2-3 hours) that include Bible study, fellowship, and lock-ins.

Lead weekly Sunday worship services (1.5-2 hours), including delivering the message.

Train youth teachers and advisors through regular (monthly or bimonthly) prayer meetings (2 hours).

Develop and organize a student council and discipleship training programs.

Oversee Sunday post-service fellowship (1 hour), including recreational and other activities.

Shepherd/disciple students through personal texts/phone calls.

Develop and execute local outreach programs throughout the year.

Plan, lead, and execute the annual summer retreats.

Work with Supporting Elders to plan and execute mission trips, either during the summer or at other special times.

Attend all staff meetings with full-time and part-time staff.

Provide regular updates on Education matters to all relevant parties.
