Overall Role: This is a one-year residency for a visual artist to join our community of faith, create artwork for our community, and cultivate creativity within our community.

Financial Support: A living stipend of $1,000/month (for twelve months) plus a designated budget for art materials and gallery showing expenses

Description of Role and Expectations: We have never had an official Artist-in-Residence (AIR) at NDC, so we are creating this role and vision from scratch. Based on the AIR’s gifts and passions, we would define some tangible goals for the residency more custom-tailored to the person. Potential expectations might include:

• Creating monthly artistic pieces that align with liturgical seasons (like Advent or Lent), sermon series, or special events (like Good Friday or Easter).
• Hosting gatherings or workshops for artists in our community to connect, collaborate, or create together.
• Organizing a gallery showing once or twice during the year.
• Overseeing wall space at the NDC facilities where art can be displayed.

Character Qualifications

• You are a follower of Jesus who can serve as a public representative of NDC (this does not mean you are without faults and weaknesses; rather that you are aware of the responsibility involved in serving a local church)
• You have self-awareness about your personality style, temperament, strengths and weaknesses, areas for growth, etc.
• You embrace and reflect the mission, vision, core values, and beliefs of NDC (see newdenver.org for more info)  

Competency Qualifications

• You are creative and gifted in the visual fine arts as reflected in a portfolio, background education, and prior work experience
• You are assertive and can manage projects bringing them to completion in a timely manner
• You can collaborate in a team-oriented environment
