Alternatives Pregnancy Center exists to care for Denver-area women and men in pregnancy-related crisis and offer them a meaningful alternative to abortion. Following the example of Christian love, we seek to meet their emotional, physical and spiritual needs. And we enable and encourage them to choose life every day.

We provide a 24-Hour Helpline, pregnancy tests and options counseling, limited ultrasound services, STD testing and treatment, adoption education, pre- and post-natal medical care referrals, financial and legal referrals, counseling after abortion, positive youth development curriculum and sexual risk avoidance education. All services are provided free of charge.

Guided by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a dedication to the sanctity of human life, you build trust quickly with individuals from diverse backgrounds and create a welcoming, supportive environment. You have experience serving vulnerable populations and providing crisis counseling. You are also skilled in managing and overseeing volunteers, equipping them to serve others with compassion, respect, and excellence while advancing the mission of Alternatives.

Job Summary: Provide outstanding support, education and resources to clients and patients impacted by unplanned pregnancy and/or compromised sexual health in a faith-based environment.

Requirements:

  • Committed and exemplified relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Committed to Alternatives mission statement and the sanctity of human life.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related field including Psychology or Social Work.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work.
  • Experience with vulnerable population and/or crisis counseling.
  • English and Spanish speaking.

Skills:

  • A well-versed understanding of current and emerging issues related to unintended pregnancy.
  • An understanding and sensitivity to cultural awareness and services to a myriad of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to build trust quickly with a diverse client base.
  • Outstanding communications skills with a heart to connect with individuals.
  • Ability to use different communication styles based on situational requirements.
  • Committed to quality customer service.
  • Ability to manage and oversee volunteers.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Counsel clients as needed.
  • Provide on-going support for clients as needed.
  • Act as an advocate with other agencies to which clients are referred.
  • Answer Helpline calls and schedule appointments during office hours.
  • Case management of clients’ needs.
  • Oversee the maintenance of client records on database.
  • Coordinate with the Client Services Manager to communicate with volunteers regarding updated policy and procedure changes.
  • Coordinate with the Client Services Manager to schedule volunteers to meet the needs of clients.
  • Schedule clientsfor ultrasounds and STD/STI appointments.
  • Attend supervision with LPC
  • Assists Client Services Manager in direct supervision of in-office volunteers.
