Youth and Children's Ministry
Family Life Pastor
Position summary:
Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, and in a cooperative spirit of Christian love and service,
the Family Life pastor will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing all aspects of
children and youth ministry for students and their families within the Trinity Baptist Church
family and the surrounding community.
Foster a Christ-centered and loving environment both inside and outside the Church that leads
children and students to discover and develop a real relationship with Jesus, which promotes
healthy and supportive friendships within Trinity.
Supervise all children/youth volunteer workers and events to ensure appropriate behavior,
environment, and complete excellence in love, care, and spiritual growth for our children/youth. If
available, you may also include a recording of yourself teaching or working with young people or
children.
General Expectations
1. Live up to God’s call as defined: 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4.
2. Versatile and adaptive, assist the Pastor/Leadership in the shepherding of Trinity: I Corinthians 9:22
3. Team player: Romans 12:4-6; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10; Proverbs 27:17; Romans 15:14; Hebrews 10:24-25.
4. Doctrine: Titus 2:1 (also adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000).
5. Stewardship: 2 Cor. 9:7. This was also expressed as following the principle of tithing, which predates the Law of Moses (Genesis 14:20).
6. Diligent Leadership: Romans 12:8
7. Shepherd-mentor: Philippians 4:9; 1 Peter 5:13
8. Evangelistic, Be a leader by example: Mark 16:15; Romans 1:16; II Timothy 4:5

Family Life Pastor Responsibilities (Youth and Children)
• Ministry is about people and relationships. Engage youth personally and build relationships
that facilitate meaningful ministry with them and their families.• Cast the vision, create the culture, and help build a dynamic, Christ-honoring, disciple-making
student ministry.
• Enlist and equip children and student ministry leaders for Sunday School, Wednesday night,
outreach projects, mission trips, community service, fun & fellowship activities, etc. Regularly
communicate with them to inform them of ministry objectives and other plans
• Equip parents to disciple their students at home and in everyday life. Help parents start spiritual conversations with their children.
• Lead the Ministry Team to prepare annual budget recommendations to the Stewardship Team.
• Flexibility and willingness to help in other areas with the Church and staff as needs arise.
General duties:
• Study and research, plan and implement—Sunday school classes, “Learn at your own level”,
Wednesday night youth activities and small groups, including researching and utilizing the best
curriculum that is ALWAYS biblically based.
• Plan, organize, and supervise other periodic, Christ-centered activities, outings, concerts,
events, mission trips, and camps.
• Keep a current running calendar and coordinate with the church office and other ministries for the use of facilities and event planning.
• Maintain a database of children/students and communicate with absent and new students.
• Identify, recruit, and train qualified workers to help in the ministry of both children/students.
• Educate and promote to the Church and the community the opportunities, purpose, and importance of
the children/student ministry at Trinity by keeping the Church informed about the activities and
upcoming events with announcements and newsletter articles; letters to parents; and updating
thetrinitytouch.com website with current information.
• Ensure the spiritual and physical safety of Trinity’s children at all events and monitor that the
appropriate student-to-leader ratio is ALWAYS maintained.
• Establish an office schedule.
• Aid and encourage children/students to participate in corporate worship.
• Attend ALL church worship services, church staff meetings, and other meetings as directed.
• Offer complete support and trust to the entire church staff, promoting an environment of oneness,
working together towards the ultimate goal of life transformation through a personal relationship
with Jesus.
