The combined parish of the Union Baptist Church of Burke, SD, and the First Baptist Church of
Lucas, SD, are searching for an Interim Pastor.
The above represents a two-church parish with a combined Sunday morning worship
attendance of approximately 125—representing a large number of children. Our congregations
are warm, welcoming, family friendly, and multi-generational, with attendees coming from
several surrounding communities. Our churches are affiliated with the American Baptist
Churches of the Dakotas and ABC USA.
The parish desires a pastor with strong, engaging, biblical preaching skills; good relational skills;
and a true love for people of all ages—especially children. Our churches also desire a pastor
who has a vision for missions, church growth, and leadership development. Music and youth
program leadership skills would be advantageous. A detailed job description is available upon

The parish is part of a rural, agricultural community nestled in the beautiful Missouri River
breaks known for its friendliness and recreational opportunities including hunting, fishing, and
rodeoing. Burke is the county seat of Gregory County and offers all of the expected amenities
including school for K-12 (approximate enrollment of 250), emergency services, grocery store,
hospital, etc.
The compensation package is to be determined. A four bed, three bath parsonage is available.
