Position Summary:

The Greenwood Fellows Director provides comprehensive leadership, oversight, and development of the Greenwood Fellows Program in partnership with The Fellows Initiative. This role is responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of a high-quality, immersive program designed to form emerging young leaders spiritually, vocationally, and relationally.

This position requires a dynamic leader who can cast vision, execute strategy, and cultivate meaningful relationships while managing the complexity of a multi-faceted program. The Director will mentor Fellows, oversee systems and teams, and ensure excellence across all program elements including recruitment, curriculum, work placement, and community life.

Competency:

Program Leadership & Strategy:

  • Provide comprehensive leadership of the Greenwood Fellows Program, including vision casting, strategic direction, and day-to-day operational oversight
  • Lead the design, execution, and continuous refinement of all program elements, including curriculum, discipleship environments, vocational placements, and community life
  • Establish measurable outcomes for spiritual formation, vocational development, and leadership growth; regularly evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements
  • Own the annual program calendar and strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment across recruiting, onboarding, program delivery, and alumni engagement
  • Collaborate with church leadership, ministry staff, and external partners to strengthen program impact and integration within the broader church ecosystem

Program Operations & Execution:

  • Lead the execution of all core program components: job placements, host homes, curriculum, retreats, mentoring, and service
  • Plan and execute logistics across all initiatives, including scheduling, communication, travel, housing, and events
  • Coordinate mentors, host homes, employers, and volunteers to ensure clarity and seamless delivery
  • Build and maintain systems that anticipate needs, solve problems, and drive operational excellence
  • Lead and participate in 3–4 weeks of annual travel for retreats, conferences, and program experiences
  • Develop and manage the annual program budget

Recruitment & Admissions:

  • Build and execute a comprehensive annual recruiting strategy that ensures a consistent, high-quality pipeline of candidates aligned with the mission and values of the Greenwood Fellows Program
  • Establish measurable recruiting goals and regularly evaluate progress, adjusting strategy to meet enrollment targets
  • Coordinate and oversee the full admissions process, including candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluation, and final selection of each Fellows cohort in conjunction with the Fellows Staff and Admission Team
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with universities, campus ministries, churches, and aligned organizations to generate qualified leads and expand program reach
  • Serve as the primary external representative of the program, clearly communicating vision, outcomes, and distinctives to prospective Fellows, families, and partners
  • Commit to 3–5 weeks of annual travel dedicated to recruiting efforts (approximately 6–10% of role), including campus visits, church partnerships, and networking opportunities

Discipleship, Teaching & Formation:

  • Design and deliver a comprehensive formation pathway that integrates spiritual disciplines, theological reflection, leadership development, and vocational discernment
  • Lead weekly teaching environments (e.g., Roundtables, seminars, retreats) with clear learning objectives, structured discussion, and actionable outcomes
  • Provide individualized mentoring and coaching for each Fellow, including regular 1:1 meetings, goal setting, and progress evaluation
  • Develop tools and rhythms (Rule of Life, reflection practices, assessments) that foster long-term spiritual maturity and self-leadership
  • Integrate classroom learning with real-world application through service, work, and church engagement, reinforcing a holistic discipleship model

Partnerships & Placement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, ministry partners, and community leaders
  • Support Fellows in securing meaningful employment during and after the program
  • Oversee marketing, recruiting materials, and program communications
  • Manage stakeholder communication across Fellows, alumni, partners, and applicants

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (ministry or related field preferred)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience strongly desired
  • 4–6+ years of leadership experience in a church, ministry, or organizational setting
  • Experience in organizational leadership, management, or program development preferred
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and developing emerging adults
