Position Purpose: To coordinate worship for Grace Community Church

General Description: This is a full-time (approximately 40 hours per week), salaried position (between $45,000 and $60,000, depending upon experience and qualifications)

Supervision: The Lead Pastor and the Board of Elders

About the Position:

As the Worship Coordinator, you will…

  • Regularly lead our Sunday morning services in song, both instrumentally and vocally with reverence and authenticity.
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff to select songs that are rich in theological truth, complimentary to the Scripture / topic for the service, and singable for the congregation.
  • Select, organize, and prepare music materials for members of the praise team, inputting them into Planning Center Services.
  • Incorporate special musical and artistic offerings (e.g. choir, orchestra, solo artists, etc.) for seasonal services such as Christmas, Easter, and VBS through leadership and preparation.
  • Develop new opportunities for the congregation to worship outside of Sunday services, including youth gatherings and other special events.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to coordinate music for special events as requested.
  • Attend and engage in weekly staff meetings.
  • Coordinate the involvement and preparation of praise team members.
  • Lead a mid-week practice and Sunday morning rehearsal each week.
  • Foster Christ-centered relationships with staff, volunteers, and congregants.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance to volunteers through prayer, encouragement, and discipleship.
  • Coach and develop team members in musicianship, vocals, and worship leadership.
  • Lead team devotionals and prayer times that deepen understanding of biblical worship.
  • Build meaningful relationships with volunteers through intentional connections outside of services.
  • Cultivate a heart of worship that models authenticity and reverence, both on and off the stage.
  • Approach worship leadership as a pastoral calling— helping others encounter and respond to God through song, prayer, and Scripture.
  • Pursue personal spiritual growth through regular time in Scripture, prayer, and engagement in the life of the church.
  • Oversee the worship ministry budget.
  • Report to CCLI as needed.

Competency Requirements:

As the Worship Coordinator, you must be able to…

  • Articulate the theology of worship.
  • Lead worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar or piano/keyboard) in a church or ministry setting.
  • Utilize Planning Center Services and SongSelect.
  • Build trust, care for volunteers, and foster a healthy team culture.
  • Help volunteers of various skill levels grow their musical abilities.
  • Exhibit excellent relational skills and a positive attitude.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills — clear, warm, and confident in both platform leadership and team collaboration.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in planning and execution.
  • Manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Attend special events on evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to the dynamic needs of ministry environments.

Preferences:

We do not require it, but would love to hear that you have…

  • Formal education in Theology, Music, or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with Ableton, ProPresenter, and related worship technologies.
  • Experience in vocal arranging, songwriting, and music production.
  • Experience in conducting choirs.
  • Experience in running a sound board/sound system.
  • The ability to play multiple instruments.
  • Other pastoral skills (teaching/preaching, counseling, etc.).
