Job Title: Director of Communications
Reports To: Head of School
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Director of Communications to join our team at Denver Christian School. As a member of the school’s leadership team, this role oversees the development, implementation, and execution of the school’s communication strategies, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission, values, and goals. The Director of Communications will be a primary voice for both internal and external communication, fostering a positive, engaging, and consistent narrative across all platforms.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator, skilled in brand alignment, storytelling, and content creation, with a heart for Christian education and a passion for advancing the school’s vision to its community.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that reflects Denver Christian’s mission, values, and strategic priorities and effectively engage all stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective families).
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of the school’s brand, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all channels and materials.
- Collaborate with the Head of School and Leadership Team leaders on key message development and public statements.
- Promote school events, programs, and achievements to both internal and external audiences.
Content Creation and Distribution
- Publication of various weekly newsletters to stakeholders (parents, staff, etc)
- Partner with the head of school for additional updates around strategic priorities (e.g. college and career counseling, new building updates, etc)
- Work closely with the advancement and admissions teams to create cohesive and integrated campaigns that support recruitment and fundraising efforts.
- Manage the school’s website, partnering with the leadership team, to ensure up-to-date and engaging content that reflects the school’s activities, news, and academic offerings.
- Produce internal and external communications, including newsletters, press releases, social media posts, website content, key internal and external documents, and promotional materials.
- Direct the school’s digital presence, including managing content for the website and coordinating social media efforts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Analyze communications metrics and use data to continually optimize outreach efforts.
- Manage and curate Denver Christian’s photo and video archives.
- In partnership with the appropriate school office, support the production of school-wide publications.
Brand Management
- Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure communications offer a unified voice and align with Denver Christian’s mission, vision, and values statements.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and cohesive visual identity across all communication channels, including print, digital, and social media
- Understand and ensure compliance with best privacy practices regarding student identifying information and other sensitive school information.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with local media, community organizations, and school partners to amplify the school’s impact and reputation.
- Serve as a key point of contact for communication, ensuring that all messages are handled with sensitivity and care, reflecting the school’s values.
- Work in partnership with the Head of School and the school leadership team to develop crisis communication strategies, ensuring timely and effective messaging during emergencies or critical situations.
- Serve as the central point of contact for the press

Denver Christian School is an independent, PreK-12 Christian school dedicated to serving students from Christian families across the Denver metro area, including those in early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role, preferably in an educational or faith-based environment.
- Proven experience in developing and executing communication strategies, including digital, social media, and traditional media outreach.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and style to various audiences.
- Familiarity with the principles of Christian education and an understanding of how to communicate within a faith-based school community.
- Experience with crisis communication, media relations, and community outreach.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and social media analytics tools.
- A heart for the mission of Christian education and a passion for communicating the school’s vision and values.
