Adult Pre-field Program Director
Job Overview
The Adult Pre-field Program (Compass) Director is responsible for guiding MTI’s mission to serve cross-cultural messengers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through pre-field training. This role is fulfilled by shepherding the Compass staff, nurturing their spiritual vitality, leveraging individual strengths, fostering collective wisdom, and unifying their efforts in a spirit of love and service.
Scope of Authority
Responsible for all personnel, processes, and finances related to Compass staff and Compass programming.
Reporting & Supervisory Relationship
Appointed by and reports to the President. The Compass adult and children teams report to the Compass Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Lead unified, high-performing teams.
- A minimum of 5+ years of overseas ministry and living experience.
- Experienced as a pre-field trainer, developer, and team member.
- Engaging with strong interpersonal skills.
- Encouraging, offering genuine praise and support.
- Empowering others, finding joy in their success and growth.
- Committed to excellence in programming.
- Committed to the care and empowerment of staff.
- Collaborative leadership, seen by valuing the voices, experiences, and expertise of others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: 4-year college diploma.

Responsibilities
Impact:
- Ensure that Compass participants demonstrate greater on-field effectiveness, endurance, and personal vitality compared to those who do not attend.
- Coordinate the efforts of staff, curriculum, and environment to effectively develop and equip participants.
- Actively participate in the MTI leadership team, contributing to decision-making and strategic direction.
Leadership Empowerment and Team Development:
- Empower the Compass Adult & Children’s (CHIPs) leaders to maximize their team’s impact, expertise, and unity.
- Collaborate with Compass leaders to recruit, evaluate, and onboard new staff, while also fostering the development of existing staff.
- Cultivate a culture of trust and transparency among Compass team leaders and members.
Personnel:
- Coordinate personnel efforts in delivering the Compass program, including team meetings.
- Facilitate the development and collection of staff insights to refine and improve the Compass curriculum.
- Encourage staff to embrace and embody MTI’s core values, particularly fostering vitality in their personal relationship with God.
- Foster unity and love within the Compass team and promote strong collaboration between Compass staff and other MTI team members.
- Provide recommendations for the employment status of Compass staff, including termination when necessary.
Program Design and Participant Engagement:
- Leverage the most effective topics, staff, delivery methods, and environment to ensure Compass participants learn, onboard, and practice attitudes and behaviors that foster effectiveness, endurance, and personal vitality throughout their time at MTI.
Stewardship and Fiduciary:
- Steward Compass resources—people, property, time, and finances—effectively to fulfill our God-given calling and impact responsibilities.
Financial:
- Support-raised position (with an option for an initial stipend as support is raised)
Miscellaneous:
- Flexibility and willingness to serve needs outside of the above listed as required.
