Associate Pastor
First Baptist Church of Topeka is a generous, warm, friendly, & kind body of believers. It is in our hearts to be loving towards & supportive of our associate pastor. We will come alongside you and support you in the Lord’s work! First Baptist has a strong core group of students of all grades and ages. In addition to that we have a number of students & people who are attached to our church through: Upward Basketball & Cheer, VBS, and other yearly outreach events.

Job Description – Associate Pastor – First Baptist Church of Topeka
- Model a positive attitude within the church body. (Let others see Jesus in you.)
- Develop ministries for families, children and youth for Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, camp, and other times as needed.
- Build relationships and minister to the parents/guardians of students regularly.
- Select, plan and implement curriculum with guidance from Children and Youth Committee. Assist in selecting curriculum and planning workshops or events for Adult Education with an emphasis on young families.
- Work closely with the Lead Pastor & other staff to:
- care for the flock.
- cast vision.
- recruit, disciple, & train volunteers and part-time staff (childcare).
- support opportunities and special events (e.g., mission trips, Bible School)
- Work on a calendar for family, children, and youth events, and coordinate the events with the Office Administrator.
- be a pastoral liaison and advocate between the day care staff and the church leadership.
- Preach occasionally if desired.
- Assist the Lead Pastor with care and visitation.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, attend monthly Children & Youth Education and Adult Education committees and the Board of Ministries meeting.
- In a unique way, bless the people of First Baptist Church with your own spiritual gifts and fit into the mix of gifts present within the congregation.
- Make opportunities to connect denominationally with American Baptist Churches USA and to be familiarized with American Baptist polity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the Christian faith
- a clear calling and passion to work with children, youth and their families
- (preferred) a degree or background in ministry
- (preferred) five years pastoral experience working with children, youth and families
