Position Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Weekend Schedule (Sunday-Thursday) with some evenings

Hours may vary outside this timeframe to support ministry needs, events, or special services.

Pay Range: $15.98-23.97/Hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Apprentice plays a vital, hands-on role in supporting the physical and ministry environment of Cherry Hills Community Church. This entry-level position is designed for someone eager to grow in practical maintenance skills while serving with excellence and humility. Whether responding to urgent facility needs or setting up unique events and keeping spaces clean, safe, and ministry-ready, the apprentice is a key contributor to our mission of creating a welcoming place for people to encounter Jesus. This role is ideal for a dependable, self-starting individual with a heart for service, a desire to grow, and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing church environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in on-the job training and shadowing to build maintenance skills and prepare for future advancement opportunities.
  • Assist Facilities Generalists and Specialists with repairs, preventative maintenance, and project work to gain hands-on learning experience.
  • Assist with painting of hallways, rooms, and other interior spaces as assigned to maintain a clean and updated campus appearance.
  • Process and update work orders through software systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform daily facility upkeep including trash removal, spills, debris, and restroom resets (toilets, soap dispensers, etc.).
  • Set up and break down unique event spaces to meet ministry needs beyond standard room configurations.
  • Support daily room resets per ministry schedules to ensure readiness and cleanliness.
  • Support Sunday service operations by maintaining cleanliness and assisting with coffee service and trash duties.
  • Complete minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, and cleaning light fixtures.
  • Remove snow and perform seasonal exterior maintenance to ensure safe access across campus.
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities, responding to urgent requests, crises, or weather-related issues with calm, practical action.
  • Identify and report safety concerns or facility damage promptly to prevent risk or disruption.
  • Operate church vehicles and equipment safely to transport materials or support campus logistics.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and secure supply and equipment areas.
  • Assist in tracking inventory of supplies and notify team leaders when items need to be restocked.
  • Demonstrate a service-first mindset, tackling unpleasant or unexpected tasks with a light-hearted, respectful attitude.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous exposure to custodial, event support, or general labor is helpful but not necessary.
  • Ideal for individuals seeking to build hands-on experience in facilities operations within a ministry-focused environment.

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES

  • Valid driver’s license with ability to operate church vehicles safely (e.g. carts, vans, trucks etc.).
  • Demonstrates emotional composure and flexibility in dynamic, high-demand situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Eagerness to develop practical skills in maintenance and facilities support, with a long-term goal of growth within the department.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); able to utilize standard tools for documentation, communication, and task coordination.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with common office technologies, including email, printers/copiers, shared drives, and organizational software platforms; able to troubleshoot basic issues and learn new tools quickly.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and working under pressure.
  • Available for evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.
  • Must be located in commutable distance to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, United States
  • Must pass a CHCC background check.
