Summary

The Worship Technology Director leads all audio, video, lighting, and livestream systems for Wellspring Church. This role recruits and develops volunteers, ensures technical excellence that supports engaging, distraction‑free worship, and collaborates closely with the worship team to cultivate a Christ‑centered environment on Sundays and at church‑wide events.

This role will also assist in other technical duties throughout the facility such as IT support of staff, infrastructure building, cable running and network management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audio, Video, Lighting, and Livestream
    • Oversee all AVL and broadcast systems for worship services and special events.
    • Design, program, and maintain scenes, presets, show files, and workflows.
    • Ensure high‑quality FOH mix, broadcast mix, stage monitoring, and lighting looks.
    • Maintain consistency of lyrics, liturgy, lower thirds, and visual assets across services.
    • Create and document standard operating procedures and checklists.
  • Volunteer Team Leadership
    • Recruit, screen, onboard, and schedule tech volunteers for all positions.
    • Train and coach volunteers through shadowing, playbooks, and refreshers.
    • Galvanize and care for the team by fostering a healthy, encouraging culture.
    • Plan and host Tech Team connection events and appreciation moments.
  • Service Preparation and Execution
    • Set up stage, patch inputs, configure IEMs, RF, and backline as needed.
    • Program and line‑check audio, lighting cues, and video scenes pre‑service.
    • Ensure band and tech teams are fully operational for all rehearsals.
    • Provide in‑the‑moment technical direction to resolve issues quickly and safely.
  • Collaboration and Planning
    • Partner with the worship department on service flow, creative elements, and room dynamics.
    • Coordinate AVL and livestream needs for all Sanctuary events, including CrossPurpose Graduations, Synod gatherings, conferences, and rentals.
    • Liaise with staff, guest speakers, and external partners on technical requirements.
  • Systems, Stewardship, and Safety
    • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
    • Recommend upgrades, capital purchases, and lifecycle planning within budget.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, copyright, and licensing standards.
    • Maintain documentation, labeling, diagrams, and version‑controlled files.
  • Campus Technology Support (Assist)
    • Provide first‑line help for basic IT needs, coordinate with Operations/IT and vendors, and assist with low‑voltage cabling and simple network tasks as requested.
    • Support meeting rooms and classrooms: displays, soundbars, Zoom/Teams, AirPlay, and digital signage.
    • Help triage ISP or network interruptions and open vendor tickets; document status and resolutions.
    • Wire and Install new low voltage devices, adopt into system.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in church production, live sound, broadcast, or closely related field.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Live audio consoles and DAWs for broadcast mixes.
    • Lighting consoles and fixture patching.
    • Presentation and lyrics software.
    • Cameras, switchers, and streaming encoders or platforms.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, time management, and calm under pressure.
  • Clear communication and a team‑first, servant‑hearted posture.
  • Humble and open to feedback.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with in‑ear monitor systems, RF coordination, and stage patching.
  • Knowledge of networked audio and video protocols.
  • Experience with stage design, acoustics, and room tuning.
  • Experience in the Ubiquity Unifi (or similar) environment.

  • Sunday services and midweek rehearsals required.
  • Occasional evenings and special events based on church calendar.
  • Flex time during the week to balance event load.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40–50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts when required.

Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to: Operations Director.
  • Oversees: Tech volunteers and positions across audio, lighting, video, and livestream.
  • Collaborates with: Worship leaders/department, musicians, and facilities teams.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time. Salary commensurate with experience.
