Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries Position Description

General Description
The pastor is called by God to serve the Lord Jesus Christ through leading the congregation to
achieve its purpose and mission. This leadership is best expressed as the pastor lovingly leads, feeds,
equips, and protects the flock under his care (Eph. 4:11-13, 2 Tim. 4:2, 1 Peter 5:2). The pastor must
have a desire to oversee the flock of God: shepherding, leading, disciplining, planning and
equipping the saints for the advancement of God’s kingdom. He must have a desire to care for
people and guide their spiritual lives.
Responsible For:
• The youth ministries of the church, to include:
• Wednesday evening Youth Meeting
• Coordinate and lead Youth Bible studies, small groups, and activities
• Promotion of Youth Group with children’s grades four through six
• Plugging into our community. (thru something like Campus Life)
• Serving the church in other ways when a need matches up with your gifts/abilities and
doesn’t hinder your youth ministry responsibilities.

Qualifications
Character:
Above reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable,
not given to drunkenness, not violent, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. (l Timothy
3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9)
Experience:
Able to teach, able to manage his own family well and see that his own children obey him with
proper respect, is not a recent convert, and has earned a good reputation with those outside the
church. (l Timothy 3:4-7)
Skills:
Relational, servant-leadership, courageous, cross-cultural, knowledgeable of teambuilding,
working with spiritual gifts, able to mentor, able planner. (Acts 20: 17-32)
Denominational Requirements:
Must be able to meet the qualifications to obtain a minimum of a Ministry License’ from the
Fellowship of Evangelical Churches Board of Elders. Information about what is required to

Specific Description
Daily Responsibilities:
• Personal devotions and prayer
• Study and ministry preparations
• Relevant visitation and relevant attendance to events our youth are participating in (i.e.
athletic events, school musicals, 4-H activities, Bible Quizzing, etc.)
Weekly Responsibilities:
• Wednesday evening Youth Meeting
• Long and short-range planning
• Staff meetings with Senior Pastor for encouragement, prayer, and accountability
• Visitation and counseling with appropriate limitations (for all church attenders)
• Maintain a minimum of one day off per week
Monthly Responsibilities:
• Present a written monthly report to the church elders.
• Social and Group-Building Youth Activities
Yearly Responsibilities:
• Submit an annual report to the church
• Participate in annual performance review
• Utilize vacation time as needed for relaxation and refreshment; unused time will not
carryover to the next fiscal year
Periodic Tasks:
• Promote Bible Quiz Program
• Teach Sunday School Class of varying age groups as necessary
• Conference-level meetings and other responsibilities as needed
• Community and Ministerium functions, representing the church
• Track Youth attendance
• Preach as needed in Sunday services
• Provide ministry & fundraising opportunities for youth
• Promote and attend Youth Retreats as needed
• Develop a team of Youth Sponsor
• Youth mission trips
• Attend relevant seminars, studies, conferences, etc. that will enhance personal
development and the ministries of the church
• Other activities as are warranted to enable the church to have an effective and efficient
ministry
• Submit expenses incurred to church Treasurer for reimbursement
• Be supportive of church social functions, fundraisers, retreats, etc.

Appraisal Schedule: Annually, during the month of October
