About Save Our Youth (SOY)

Save Our Youth, Inc. is a Christian faith-based youth development organization connecting young people to hope through long-term mentoring relationships with Christian adults. We collaborate with individuals and like-minded faith groups and churches in the community to increase awareness of youth resilience and to support their success. Save Our Youth trained volunteer mentors bring compassion, long-term commitment, and intentionality to provide youth a caring Christian adult by their side guiding them through life’s circumstances.

Position Summary

Save Our Youth (SOY) is on a mission to match incredible young people with life-changing mentors and right now, more than 100 youth are waiting in line for that opportunity. We’re bringing on a Seasonal Mentee Intake Interviewer to help us move faster and bring hope sooner.

In this role, you’ll be the friendly face and listening ear for youth and their parents/guardians during the intake interview process. You’ll gather stories, strengths, and important details that set the stage for high-quality matches. This position is all about opening doors of possibility, helping ensure more youth are “match-ready” and one step closer to meeting a mentor who believes in them.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position works with a variety of generations. Along the way, you’ll be calendaring, emailing, meeting with families, and typing interview notes. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to care and learn about people of all ages is fundamental!

  • Conduct 3–5 mentee interviews per week with youth and their families across the Denver metro area.
  • Travel to family homes, apartments, and community meeting spaces around the Denver metro (driving distances may be up to 1 hour).
  • Schedule and reschedule interview appointments directly with families, including day-of confirmations.
  • Complete case notes, documentation, and data entry in SOY’s case management system.
  • Communicate observations to Mentoring Specialists regarding mentee needs, strengths, and potential mentor fit.
  • Create a hope-filled, culturally responsive, and professional interview experience for every family.
  • Uphold SOY’s mission, values, and confidentiality standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • College coursework in social work, psychology, human services, or related field preferred.
  • Experience conducting interviews, intakes, or assessments strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Flexible schedule required. This position requires meeting with students and their parents/guardians at their homes when they are available, often in the evening or on the weekend.
  • Licensed driver with reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and an acceptable driving record. Comfortable driving on the highway and distances of up to an hour to all corners of the Denver Metro area.
  • Comfortable working in diverse communities, including low-income neighborhoods.
  • Skilled in building rapport, managing sensitive conversations, and maintaining professionalism.
  • Computer literate; capable of efficient documentation.
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter.
  • A committed Christian who demonstrates a healthy personal relationship with Jesus Christ as articulated by the leadership of Save Our Youth.
  • Strong passion for youth and the faith-based mission of Save Our Youth, Inc.
  • Agreement and alignment with the principles stated in the following documents as updated from time to time: SOY Core Values, SOY Standards of Conduct, SOY Employee Handbook, and SOY Statement of Faith.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Schedule: Flexible, part-time hours (10–15 hours per week, evenings and weekends as needed).
  • Non-exempt position (hourly).
  • Compensation: $18–22 per hour, based on experience.
  • Mileage reimbursement at IRS standard rate for travel to/from interviews.
  • Paid training (one week, approx. 10–15 hours).
  • Seasonal employment. Position concludes after backlog is reduced (3–6 months).
  • Not eligible for benefits.
